I didn't realise they were making a new season, but I'm excited for it. It's called True Detective: Night Country, and this time it will star Jodie Foster and Christopher Eccleston. It seems to be set in the snow this time around.

Decent start mixing in the character backstories with main case, and I'm always down for a snow setting.

Yup I enjoyed the premiere. Creepy, interesting setting, good lead characters. Can't ask for more from True Detective. Nothing will ever top that first season but it's off to a good start.

I don't get all the hate for this season. I love it. Sounds like the series creator is insulted they gave his show over to someone else, which is fine to be disappointed about that, but it comes off petty to shit on the show, whether you like the season or not.

The dude looks awful on Instagram, sharing people's stories on Instagram about how the season is shit. Good luck getting anyone to want to work with you. This is probably the first time something I genuinely enjoy is getting review-bombed like this and it's just weird, especially led by the original creator.

I thought the season was great. And it's been renewed for another season.

I wanted to have the chance to binge this, so I just watched this over the last week, and it's great TV. Foster is simply excellent, and Reis is very good too, I had no idea she didn't have an acting background as she's very natural. The first 5 episodes are definitely great, then in the last episode it's wrapped up quickly and it misses the suspense and hunt from the other episodes. I wouldn't have minded if this was 2 episodes longer and we would have gotten more character back stories. But as a detective story it works well and the snow setting and horror elements were a good choice.
The first season still stands on its own, but this is easily better than season 2 which I also enjoyed and at least as good as season three.
