Post "Mom" (Season 2)
I'm really loving this season so far. I love Marjorie!!! Glad to see this airing after TBBT instead of the recently cancelled, The Millers.

The most recent episode where the family rents a fully-furnished house (people were murdered there) was the best one so far and one of my favorites of the whole show.

Mom is delightfully dark, serious and hilarious. So sad that this hasn't really caught in with a mass audience. I guess because it stops to take a moment to be dramatic on occasion turns off the people that love the perpetual laugh track of TBBT.

I'm really enjoying this season, but it's definitely been more of a drama thus far this season than one would expect from a CBS sitcom.

Especially a Chuck Lorre sitcom.

Start watching this a few weeks ago for the first time.

It's been a pretty good show so far

The only downside I have with the show is that there are three regular characters who are largely underutilized or completely unnecessary. Matt Jones and French Stewart are fun in their roles but they're full-time cast members and I don't really see the point. It would be great if both were used more, but that would take away from the focal point of the show, which is the Faris-Janney-Calvano dynamic.

Nate Corddry's character could and should be written off the show. The affair with Christy was barely a storyline early on in Season 1 and that's it. Beyond that, there have been no reasons for him to be there.

The Nate Corddry/French Stewart scenes don't work at all and feel like they belong on a different show.

I agree. I do think French Stewart is an amusing side character, like Oleg on 2 Broke Girls, but the whole restaurant scenes take away from the show. It's like they either want us to remember Christy works, or they want it to be a part-time workplace sitcom.

I honestly think this show is incredibly underrated. It boasts two fantastic lead performances and the majority of supporting players are great. It's always insanely funny and surprisingly moving. Been loving this season.

This season has been really, really good. There's nothing else mixing comedic beats and pathos in quite the same way on television. Allison Janney is incredible and Anna Faris is no slouch either.

Anna Faris was born to do a sitcom, but she becomes a tad too desperate at times. If she could dial it back just a tad, she would be perfect.

But that's just a minor gripe considering I think she stands tall opposite Janney.

Whoa, last night's episode was great but REALLY dark with the domestic abuse reveal. Allison Janney and Anna Faris were both FANTASTIC.

Last night's episode was kind of amazing. This show is doing comedy different than anything else on TV right now. It reminded me so much of something Roseanne would have done.

Tonight's episode was super heavy.

Can this even be classified as a sitcom anymore?

I am continually amazed at the dark places this show goes to. It really pulls off a tricky balance, largely due to the superb work Anna Faris and Allison Janney are dong.

I don't see why it wouldn't be considered a sitcom anymore. ;) Yeah, some episodes are pretty heavy but there is always a good amount of comedy in those episodes as well.

I didn't LOVE the last episode like I was hoping to. It was good, though I thought the writing wasn't up to par like it usually was. I think it was one of those episodes that could have easily been an hour long and it would have been better. I didn't think it really said anything about loss or the coping with the loss of a loved one. I will say, I did love the scene in the bar. That was great.

I give this show so much credit for the dark territory it goes to for a multicam sitcom. It's pretty remarkable.

It's really one of the best shows on TV, IMO. Not enough people watch it.

And CBS is daring people not to watch it. It was doing great behind TBBT, but now it's paired on Thursdays with repeats of TBBT? How the heck is that supposed to work? Do the inevitable and nix The Odd Couple and move 2 Broke Girls and Mike & Molly to Thursdays.

It (Mom) actually did quite well in the Thursday 9 pm slot the other day. I think CBS will move it to that spot permanently in the fall.

It did Two and a Half Men numbers, which is fine, but I liked when it was holding a good chunk of TBBT's ratings, especially 18-49.

I know numbers aren't bad. I just wish they wouldn't have cut its support so quickly. I'm sure it's only because they think it can float on its own, but it may be too soon to assume Mom is a bonafide hit.
