NBC had previously announced The Music Man as their 2015 live musical, but a new development has revealed they have the rights to The Wiz as well. Which should they choose? Personally, I think The Music Man would get better ratings, but the Wiz would be way more interesting.

I believe The Wiz would post higher ratings. It is related to The Wizard of Oz, one of the most beloved and iconic properties in American popular culture. The Music Man is a venerable musical, of course, and almost assuredly the more respectable choice, but it does not have the gaudy, sensational pop immediacy of The Wiz.

And there might be interest, too, in seeing how the person cast as the Scarecrow compares to Michael Jackson.

"The Wiz" makes more sense on a commercial level.

What horrible choices. I would prefer The Music Man, only because The Wiz is a piece of garbage.
