This premieres tonight. I am so excited to see it. Jane Campion is one of my ten favorite directors, and reviews are great so far. Alas, I do not have the Sundance Channel. :( I will purchase the inevitable Blu-ray, definitely.

I wish BBC America, who seem to hold the home-video rights despite it airing on the Sundance Channel, would release this on DVD and/or Blu-ray already.

I've been meaning to watch this on Netflix. Will get around to it soon.

Despite being intended at first as a standalone story, this amazing series will receive a second season after all. :)

Quote:
Jane Campion and writer Gerard Lee are moving ahead on a second season of their award-winning mystery drama Top of the Lake. Lee and Campion developed the first eight-episode series, which marked Campion's first return to television since 1990 miniseries An Angel at My Table.

U.K. and Australian film and TV company See-Saw will again produce the New Zealand-set series, which BBC2 has commissioned.

The first season of Top of the Lake starred Elisabeth Moss as a detective investigating the strange disappearance of a pregnant 12-year-old girl. Holly Hunter also starred. Moss won a Golden Globe for her performance and the series was nominated for a total of eight Emmys, winning for best cinematography for a TV movie or miniseries.
