Post Re: The Walking Dead (Season 4)
I'm almost done Season 4 (3 episodes left) and man I'm pretty in love with this show. Probably in my top 3 after Once and American Horror Story. I understand the nitpick concerns like everyone is 100x better at shooting zombies than each other or how in S4 zombies physically touched people without scratching or biting them, so often. (In the past I liked how you just had to be one half step too close or one half second lazy for the zombie to jump up and get you - now even Beth can get grabbed by a zombie and wrestle out of his grasp lol)

But still, I find it an emotionally rich and complex show and its visual storytelling is on point. The human side of the show has never been better than in S4. I think the 2nd Governor episode (where he breaks bad again) is one of my favorite tv episodes in years. Stuff like Daryl and Beth's bonding on their own was so great too. This is a focused show from a storytelling perspective. Consider their decision to not show the Governor until episode 6, then give him his own 2 full episodes in a row, followed by the mid season finale. Many other shows would've told his storyline in 5-10 minute segments over the first 7 episodes, which probably would've been boring and distracting compared to the main characters. They knew that dedicating themselves to one story first then the other was the way to go. And likewise for the second half of the season (minus the 3 episodes I haven't gotten to yet) where they've either given groups of characters their entire episode or close to it, instead of servicing splitting up the pie way too thin. TWD has legit intelligence behind its storytelling technique, both in the plot and in individual episodes (It takes a high degree of skill to make zombie attack+breaking into houses not feel overdone and boring at this point considering how many times those things have happened)

Post Re: The Walking Dead (Season 4)
I thought it was ballsy to dedicate two entire episodes to The Governor last season with almost no appearances from any other TWD characters. And it paid off because those episodes were excellent.

I loved the character-centric episodes last season. For some reason on iMDB, the Daryl/Beth episode is rated low, but I thought it helped build the Beth character, someone who had been largely boring and barely even one-dimensional before, along with progressing Daryl's story, something that hadn't been done since Merle's death.
