I would say Everwood because Dawn Ostroff renewed 7th Heaven instead of it due to better ratings. Well, Everwood was a strong show and though it did have a proper ending, Ostroff made an unnecessary decision to cancel Everwood. She couldn't even realize that it was expected to get that high of ratings because it was going to be the last episode ever of 7th Heaven.

I loved Everwood and the least she could've done is bring it back for a 5th and final season of 13 episodes.

Honorable Mentions:
Another candidate of "Unnecessary cancellation" is definitely Freaks and Geeks as NBC treated it like it was their stepchildren. It was such a classic show!

Veronica Mars is another candidate. I loved that show (it also some of the best reviews of any UPN series) and the unintended series finale left off some unresolved storylines, which will hopefully be resolved in the movie next year.

Happy Endings. Mainly because they KILLED it. It had good ratings at the start of this season before they moved it to Friday and Sunday and every day ever.

It will never make sense to me.

Happy Endings had good ratings while it aired out of MF. But so did any other show in that timeslot. On its own it wasn't really a good ratings performer.

To answer the poll question Veronica Mars is my #1 frontrunner. CW (or better said horrible network runner Dawn Ostroff) killed it due to low ratings. Luckily her projects GG, 90210, Privileged, etc went on to have even worse ratings pretty soon. CW would kill for VM ratings now. I'm so glad. The same thing goes for Reaper.

My So-Called Life. The most perfect lone season any show has ever had.

My dad loved that show when it first aired on ABC! I was so sad when it ended (I watched it when I was in fifth grade and it's still good as it was in the 90s)! If Claire Danes wanted to continue the show, I'm sure it would've been a success on the now defunct-The WB.

If it's really over (damn I want some news on this front!) then "Happy Endings" for sure.

"Veronica Mars" is a close second. Both perfect examples of shows killed by their networks.

Veronica Mars. If it was on any other network, I could maybe understand it. The CW cannot justify canceling a show that has a passionate fanbase though.

Veronica Mars and Reaper. Both were doing solid ratings for The CW. Reaper did especially solid for being on Friday night in Season 2. Veronica Mars was their best reviewed show and it was canceled in favor of.... One Tree Hill . Cancelling Veronica Mars was a big mistake for them, IMO.

Happy Endings being canceled is deeply sad, same for Don't Trust The B. But with the ratings it was somewhat understandable. But I blame them for shitty scheduling.

Alphas. I loved that show, and the cliffhanger it ended on still annoys me to no end.
