He'll be directing his first movie during the eight weeks of new summer episodes, John Oliver will take over as host.

Good for Jon to pursue other interests though I am glad it's only a hiatus and not a straight leave. Will be interesting to see how Oliver does.

Feels like it could be a tryout

I like John Oliver enough, but feel he could be very annoying in large doses.

Hopefully it's one where they try out Oliver for his own show and not for taking over The Daily Show.

More just because Stewart doesn't seem to be slowing down any time soon, he hasn't fallen into the cult status/mentality that Colbert has, and he is still one of the funniest people in nighttime (at least in my opinion).

In terms of straight comedy, yes, Colbert wins.

But in terms of news+comedy? Stewart wins going away.

Because movies worked out so well for him the first time...
