Here's the update with yesterday's Jujutsu Kaisen announcement. Also updated in the original post.

And I'll add another series or two to the thread this week. Probably Spy x Family and Chainsaw Man.

Demon Slayer 19 also had a 1.5m first print in February 2020.
It had 40m units in circulation back then.

Aligning the launch of vol. 19 of Demon Slayer and vol. 15 of JJK, it seems the two are close.
Jujutsu seemingly never recovered from the heavy stock issues it suffered from in late-december/early-january. Shueisha is probably printing as many units as it can.

See this graph (I don't know how to embed an image, sorry)

 For images, at least most formats, just use .

And yes, I'd say Shueisha is still struggling to meet the demand of the overall market. Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer aside, the majority of their titles are doing incredibly well. I think DS has begun to slow down a bit (what do you expect selling over 5 million per volume), so perhaps they'll be able to allocate some of its printing efforts there it to other titles here soon.

I'll add some more series to the original post in the coming week(s). But I wanted to share, and many of you probably know already, that My Hero Academia now has 50 million copies in circulation worldwide (30 million in Japan). So ~20 million overseas for MHA. That's really, really huge. Attack on Titan hasn't been updated in over a year, but last update had it at 10 million overseas. I'm sure it's added at least a couple million since, but it surely hasn't doubled.

Therefore, MHA is the best selling series outside of Japan since the One Piece/Naruto/Bleach trio. Very impressive.

Fairy Tail is more recent than the Big 3 and has 30m outside Japan (including around 10m in France).

Another question mark is Death Note, since afaik we never got its worldwide circulation, only 30 million for Japan.

One-Punch man is only at 9m for the rest of the world

Tokyo Ghoul + Re is 47m worldwide. We don't know the exact split, but at least 30m is from Japan (and most likely closer to 40m).

Other big question marks are Seven Deadly Sins and Dragon Ball Super, but neither of them should be above 10m (or at least, not anywhere close to 20m)

Post subject:  Re: Manga Circulation Milestone Timeline

Ah, Fairy Tail! Huge total in France, that's for sure. Is it fourth best all time there, after the big 3?

You'd think Death Note would *probably* have an impressive figure overseas. But I also feel like its popularity may have been more from the anime given its shorter length. It was able to conclude early, meaning fans may have been less likely to go out and buy the manga in order to know what happens next. Its low volume count probably limits it a good bit as well.

In France, Dragon Ball is first with ~35m
Then One Piece and Naruto with 20m+
And yes, Fairy Tail is most likely 4th

Dr Stone has reached 10M in circulation.

About the Big 3 in France... Naruto sold more than 1,2M of copies in 2020 and still really strong so.

And for Jujutsu Kaisen, I'm also including volume 0 in its count since its announcement image shows it.

I wonder if 150 million copies in circulation of Kimetsu, which Shueisha announced in February, included 4 million copies from Viz Media. It is funny that Shueisha rarely specifies circulation numbers of their series in details. Normally, websites who announce domestic and international numbers are Oricon, Natalie Comic, or MantanWeb.

AOT 10M WW was only known with 86M circulation announcement back in Dec 2018. Since then it sold about 4.7M~5M in physical before the 100M announcement. Could WW sales be much higher?

120M circulation announcement is near, hopefully they clear it up. I hate it when companies announce WW once and not mention it afterwards. like with Fullmetal.

It's funny that they bothered to announce an odd number like this for the coloring books instead of providing current total circulation of the manga.

Yup it's really impressive ! Now the sales of volume 6th and 7th did almost the same after 4 weeks of selling so I'm wondering if the 8th will do better. Its a 1M+ seller so 1,5M copies print per volume is a good choice and must be sold when its anime'll be released.
