My friend was texting me about how Tropic Thunder is still hilarious and I’m kinda surprised that has escaped any blowback. I guess it’s just too good of a movie to ignore the context (they very much condemn the use of blackface, but that didn’t stop 30 Rock from pulling the live episode…)

Does Tropic Thunder stream anywhere?

It's still on Amazon and Paramount. I can't imagine how it would look if they cut RDJ out of the movie. :funny:

James is very straight forward. He hasn't been afraid of voicing his mind over this (or other matters) in the past either.

Bad bosses (Mike Richards) getting cancelled by their employees seem a lot more justified than good employees (Ken Jennings) being cancelled by bad bosses.

Another round of cancellation on the table for Camila Cabello as the Cinderella remake has sparked a new round of controversy for her N word usage at the age of 15.

It was one of the worst episodes of the Office, maybe they are just using the excuse of cancel culture to make everyone forget about how bad the first season of the Office was

Yeah if they could cancel the first season of most shows, they'd be better off

Season 1 > 4,5,6,7,8 imo. 2 and 3 are the only truly great ones.

Also, Michael Scott is a bigot in just about every episode.

It took a few specials but I think Chappelle might be official cancelled now though the meaning of that has less tangible consequences these days on a stand up other than the mob saying mean things about you.

I don’t have a problem with that one considering it looks like there was a lot of emails including homophobic stuff crossing the line. He probably could’ve gotten away with it if there was only one lips comment ten years ago.

He resigned, so he kind of cancelled himself/ admitting the need to being cancelled...but it's also only because the stuff comes out, otherwise he wouldn't have cared. On the one hand it would be better they fired him, because he would have gotten a pay-out I guess, but yeah, it's basically out of line what he said before, still I don't think it should cost him his job either, he should be judged by his current performance alone. However this story was obviously getting a lot of backlash and you just don't want it to be getting in the way of the team, which it seems like it was. I don't know, if he's such an asshole he shouldn't have been hired or lasted 2+ years already in the first place, just the emails alone I don't should be as much of a big deal as they are.

I don't follow football, but seeing some of the language he used, it's just a "why say that stuff?" situation. Don't really believe the "never meant to hurt anyone" apology that he and many others use when their words come to light. One instance, sure, a second time...maybe, but not multiple accounts. It just becomes racist, homophobic, and misogynistic then.

Maybe he's an example of bias without intention, or unconscious feelings or beliefs. But that's not a free pass, and it should be recognized by the person as inappropriate. Which he may understand now. Perhaps he'll learn a personal lesson from this and grow. Don't think someone should be "cancelled" if there is self-recognition of the problem, and then effort made to correct it.

He likely resigned since this is only the tip of the iceberg in these 650,000 leaked emails. If so, that's a good start and sign of being responsible and holding himself accountable, hopefully, and not just being used as a way avoid further media attention only.

Question now is: How many others in the NFL is going to be caught up in this? Hard to imagine at least one other person isn't in so many emails.
