Joe Biden has won the 2020 elections and hopefully Democracy will survive long enough for him to be sworn in as the 46th President of the United States.

*waits for cheers*

So what happens next, over the next twenty years?

Democrats:

Biden will be 81 for the 2024 election, and has consistently said that he only ran this time to defeat Donald Trump. I don't see him going for a second term.

Kamala will be riding high as his vice president, but people still won't really like her. Buttigieg did the DNC a solid by dropping out right before Super Tuesday, paving the way for a Joe Biden primary victory. A few days ago I would have had him as a comfortable front-runner. Stacey Abrams is getting A Lot of credit for flipping Georgia though, and she seems primed to become a major liberal celebrity over the next few years.

Obviously whoever the Dems pick next is just keeping the seat warm for their golden goose, Alexandria Ocasio Cortez. I think she needs about ten more years of experience, calming her more extreme policies and letting her make some conservative friends to work with. The demand will be there in 2028, but I hope she waits until 2032.

2024: Stacey Abrams - 50/50
2028: Stacey Abrams or Pete Buttigieg- L
2032: Alexandria Ocasio Cortez - W
2036: Alexandria Ocasio Cortez - W

Pubs:

Obviously I have a very cynical view of these folk , leading to the following forecast. You might wanna consult KJ conservatives for a better picture.

2024: Donald Trump - 50/50
2028: Donald Trump Jr. - W
2032: Donald Trump Jr. - L
2036: Ivanka Trump - L

I think the GOP is going to have a hard time getting out of the party of the Trump family, at least for now I see a Trump or Trump
Like candidate in 2024. I know zwack thinks the party needs to swing more to the center or at least have a candidate who’s personality is not so off putting, but it is what got him the nominated in 2016 and the record turnout in rurales areas in 2020. The GOP as a whole probably agrees with zwack as well, but their base does not it would seem, at least for now

2020: Donald Trump
2024: Tucker Carlson
2028: Kim Kardashian West (Democrats)
2032: Kim Kardashian West
2036: Eric Trump
2040: Eric Trump

Wanted to throw Ron DeSantis in there but if I go Tucker then I think Democrats will soon rebound after 12 years of Republicans (Tucker ends up flopping as president). Pete Buttigieg is my alternate Democrat.

The politically ambitious Kim K (as seen by her prison reform and visiting white house, and maybe Kanye run because it's a very political household) becomes first female president, which is America in so many ways.

Eric is the sleeper Trump kid. He's the one Donald left the empire to.

If Biden pulls it off then the Democrats are in power the next 20 years. Something like 2021: Biden, 2022-2024: Harris, 2024-2040: AOC

You think Kim and Kanye will still be married in eight years? That’s bold.

Stacey Abrams has grown her credibility and profile even further thanks to Georgia's results, especially if they manage to flip one or both Senate seats in the runoffs.

But she's more of an organizer, get out the vote person. Not saying she can't succeed in or shouldn't pursue a leadership role again, but being on the ground to turn out people is her avenue right now.

There has to be a way to appeal to both moderates and get the hardcore Republican base out in big numbers. If they can find a candidate like that, they’re in a good position.

I think Kamala is a weak candidate but who knows what will happen in two years when the next election cycle begins. Trump can help shore up support among the rural base for whoever is the 2024 Republican candidate.

I could see either:
2020 Donald Trump (GOP, via Supreme Court ruling)
2024 Dwayne Johnson (Dem)
2028 Dwayne Johnson (Dem)
2032 VP of Dwayne Johnson (Dem)
2036 Candace Owens (GOP)
2040 Candace Owens (GOP)

Or

2020 Kamala Harris (Biden never gets inaugurated)
2024 Donald Trump (Trump third party, quits GOP for not supporting him for 2020 electoral college)
2028 Dwayne Johnson (GOP)
2032 Dwayne Johnson (GOP). Trump 3rd party dissolves after two Trump Jr. losses to Johnson
2036 Ivanka Trump (Dem)
2040 Ivanka Trump (Dem)

Honestly I’d vote for The Rock blue or red. The one guy who would break the party walls.

Me too, I’d vote The Rock as a Dem over Trump.

Also it seems both Anti-Trump and Trump supporters agree that the only chance GOP has at future presidency in next 20 years is either a Trump or non-establishment candidate. Romney and Bush are hated by most Trump supporters almost as equally as Biden.

I don’t know to what extent you were trying to be funny or just trolling. The nonsense Trump was posting on twitter at the time was increasingly insane. He’s even worse now on ‘truth’ social. But maybe you went off the deep end with other Republicans.

Trump is probably gonna cost the Republicans the election in 2024 because if he doesn't win the primary, he will tell his cultists to stay home and not vote and they'll listen ugh.

Republicans need to nominate Desantis not Trump, but I doubt they will. Trump clearly only cares about himself and not the Republican party

He's attacking before DeSantis has even decided to run. I expect he'll wait for 2028 if Trump runs in 2024.

Post subject:  Re: Future Presidents

DeSantis risks losing his momentum if he waits until 2028. And momentum is key. Waiting four years and then trying to run two years after his time as Governor is over is pretty unwise as he'll be out of the spotlight. And there's not a Senate seat he can run for in 2026 unless he moves and runs outside Florida somewhere. .

Besides, he tries to act all manly all the time, and bowing out of a clear race he's been planning and raising money for because of Trump won't go over well with his crowd. He'd be seen as a coward.

And Trump can't wait until 2028 if he plans to run either due to his advanced age.

They both really need to run in 2024 to maximize their chances. And this will be "healthy" for the GOP... Maybe.

Florida has become the central hub for the modern GOP, too, with Rubio and Scott viewed as likely 2024 candidates as well.
