It's going to be zero. He's too rich to held accountable by any court or even the court of public opinion.

What happens when he bans the guy who tracks his personal flight records?

There are reasons to be concerned. Elon will do things that are good for Elon just like all billionaires as we truly are heading towards a world where the same ten dudes own everything. When can we start using the word oligarch to describe America's rich?

I personally can't wait for China to pressure him to ban or provide personal information on Chinese twitter users. I wonder if there's a Tesla plant in China they could leverage...

Time to dust off Tumblr after all this time, I guess! (Kidding... maybe, haven't been there in years.)

People, on both sides, are likely overreacting to Musk. The right's odd, somewhat recent, right?, obsession with him will likely disappoint many of them with little changes. And the left's initial doom reaction will likely subside in time when little changes.

The problem is that Musk is an egotistical man with the moral compass that any other old billionaire has. And he's known for not taking criticism well, just like any old rich guy, so having a thin-skinned dude like that in control of one of the world's largest communication platforms probably won't go well. This isn't some... champion of freedom or adversary of freedom that people think. He's just a big-headed rich guy with too much money going around adding things to cart that only he and a select few can buy and hitting checkout to flaunt.

Also, just to be clear, do not believe a single person that says social media is biased against the right wing. That's just fucking insane. Every single social media, and MOST regular media!!!, is right wing biased.

All those articles focus on is the algorithm favoring tweets/posts that get more engagement. Right wing accounts are lesser in number, so the ones that exist get more engagement, just like Fox News has a monopoly on conservative biased news

show me a study showing left leaning accounts are more likely to be banned, fact checked or have their tweets deleted and maybe I'll believe your premise

show me a study proving otherwise. I literally proved my point. You brought a graph showing the Californians donate to democrats more than republicans.

Give me even one example of a left leaning account being banned or fact checked for "missing context".

And it's very relevant that the people behind Twitter are almost 99% democrat, why on earth would they intentionally help republicans?

Wouldn't trust leftists to come to the conclusion that twitter isn't biased for the left

Here is a handful of banned right wing accounts for public figures, how many banned left wing political ones can you name?

Spoiler: show
Donald Trump
Marjorie Taylor-Greene (personal account)
Steve Bannon
Roger Stone
James O'Keefe
Mike Lindell
Michael Flynn
Robert Malone
Juanita Broderick

Some of the crazier people like Alex Jones, Milo, Lin Wood, Sydney Powell, etc.

Lots of temporary bans for people like Rand Paul, Tucker, Owens, Trump Jr etc. over the years

Post Re: The Biden era: The Establishment Strikes Back
On the topic of mainstream media (not social media) I look at CNN vs Fox News as a revealing insight into bias between the two predominant parties. Not left vs right, but Democrat vs GOP. I follow both fairly regularly as an effort to try and “get both sides”‘so I feel internally informed. CNN clearly has more favorable leaning towards the Democratic Party, yes, but I’d say their relationship is one of mutual understanding. CNN had posted many critiques of the Democrats, so I don’t think they are just a megaphone for that party, but the vibe behind CNN obviously lines up more with the Democrats than the GOP. Now with Fox and the GOP it is outright synchronization. We even have texts revealed between Hannity and Trump insiders. Fox News is basically State Media run by the GOP, directly in some cases. This is why Fox News, particularly their opinion section, cannot be and should not be taken seriously, where as CNN should be taken in, but with a grain of salt.

I'd say roughly half the US would disagree with you about places like CNN, MSNBC, WaPo, etc. being shameless propagandists for the Democrats, far left journos have to be one of the most hated people of anyone right now. To me they should never recover from the utter embarrassment that was their performance during Russiagate/the Trump era, even not counting the stuff that came after like BLM riot coverage or J6 dead horse.

Fox News is obviously biased but when it comes to someone like Tucker there is something more honest about it because he is so up front about his political views, and the style is editorial/commentary. What bothers me more is the journalist hacks who are pretending they're spreading an objective form of news reporting when they're more interested in propagandizing the population to support their views, doing it with things like cherry picking which information or stories to report. It's more manipulative to me than right wing talk show hosts. For that reason I also don't have that big of a beef with left wing socialist streamers like Hasan Piker, while I couldn't disagree with his views more and think he's an idiot, because he's not hiding the socialist views, it's in comparative good faith compared to the journalists who are pissing on their once respected profession.

I think most people, not just half, lack the self-discipline to be intellectually honest and typical resort to tribal thinking that more often than not lines up with their political party, thus why they would think a new outlet that does not present their worldview, if even warped and misinformed, is inherently bias and wrong.

But yes, “Russiagate” as you put it, really hurt my opinion of CNN as well. It was very overblown and festered on making something out of nothing.

Cable News is all about giving people the news they Want To Hear.

I think the main difference is that liberals know that MSNBC is propaganda while conservatives think that Fox are the only ones telling the truth.

CNN used to be a bit more moderate, obviously left-leaning but they would try to be balanced sometimes. Trump then pushed them over the edge into being like every other cable news station. Their only value is in the touch-screen video boards now.

One of the other problems is that leftists don't want to associate themselves with the right, going on Tucker would give them a permanent stain and they're not supposed to be elevating wrong views in their eyes. So leftists aren't going on to Fox News to debate them, and the same is also true the other way around, I think Ben Shapiro would say yes in a second if MSNBC asked him to debate Maddow on TV, and it's exactly what these channels need for ratings, however they're also afraid to give airtime to right wingers. This is also why Rogan was accused of having more right wing guests, Rogan is interested in talking to everyone but left wingers don't want to talk to him as much.

I guess my point is that CNN is by circumstance, more likely to give a spin that favors Democrats, where as Fox News has actual proof of working directly with the GOP. The Democrats clearly have a better relationship with the media, where as Fox News is media that works for the GOP.

Both are bias, but the type of bias they are is important

Maybe not on TV, but the clips of their shows will still spark outrage on the internet.

This is just so obviously bullshit.

OMG LEFT WING FOLKS DON'T GET BANNED! BIAS!!!

Maybe it's that left wing account don't post conspiracy theory bullshit. Don't constantly go around being intentionally hateful and spreading just clearly obvious lies all the fucking time.

This would be like asking why bullies get suspended from school, but regular students don't. OMG there must be a bias against bullies!!! No, you're just fucking bullies.

Just most completely disproven lies. Literally every major newspaper does puff pieces on right wingers constantly. CNN has more than half their correspondents be former republicans.

Just a ridiculous brain rot. You have to be intentionally stupid to think republicans are discriminated against.

There's also the fact that right wing accounts have been gaining tens of thousands of followers in the last couple days as left leaning accounts lose the same amount.

And lots of tweets about covid and the 2020 election not being taken down
