Nate Silver is predicting that Republicans will gain 54-55 seats in the House. http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/

I think that sounds about right. Somewhere between 55-60. I think the Senate will be +9 to the GOP. Washington, Indiana, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Nevada, Arkansas, Illinois, and Colorado should switch. I am least certain about Washington.

Anyone else have any thoughts or predictions or perhaps candidates they most want to see win or lose?

For me, I hope Alan Grayson loses more than any other candidate.

In Washington, I hope we get rid of our state liquor monopoly. I really want some Jägermeister from Costco.

39 seats in the House would give the Republicans control of it and that would block most things, except things like appointments/treaties, which originate in the Senate.

10 Senate seats would give the Republicans control, but so long as they can muster 41 votes they can block most anything the Democrats can try to do. Control of the Senate is really about controlling committee chairs which is where things get done, in general.

Republicans look to gain a lot of Governorships and state legislatures which will be very important in 2012 when redistricting is done (which affects the House) and when presidential candidates need state political networks/endorsements to help secure electoral votes.

I would love to see Harry Reid get ousted and Barbara Boxer. I'm so tired of career politicians. Especially when they serve in the Senate with the damn 6 year term. It needs to be reduced to 4.

I did vote a day early today. The was a line this afternoon and I'm guessing all day for this early voting round. When I turned in my vote, the machines showed about 3400 ballots entered for my county.

Anyway, I'll say in my state we are choosing between two females for governor and that will the first time it has happened. I voted against Fallin simply because she originally voted against the bailout bill then voted for it. She's most likely going to win anyway but there was no way I could vote for her.

The other major issue in my state was a SQ #744 which had to do with increasing the amount of money spent per student based on the average spent by other states in the region. I voted no on that because the bill gave no direction on where the money would come from and it would have forced the legislature to either raise taxes, cut services or both and we already spend half the budget on education anyway. I mean, please. It was ridiculous.

I'll be writing libertarian candidates for Senate and Governor in, because they were denied ballot access in PA (http://www.ballot-access.org/2010/08/17 ... nsylvania/).

There are a couple of insignificant ballot issues in Philadelphia - the most important of them is whether or not Philly can borrow $180M for capital projects. I will be voting no on that, considering that a) there are no details on specific projects and b) corruption runs rampant in this city.

My Congressional district has only one candidate (Bob Brady, who basically runs Philadelphia as chairman of local Democratic party), so I launched a silly Facebook write-in campaign for me. Hoping to get at least 10 votes! :)

Not from me. Stayed on Democrats side pretty much across the board. On the propositions I'm more to the center, only voted Yes on two of them (25 and 26).

And as far as I'm concerned, 90% of Republicans are idiots, along with about 75% of Dems.

An unfortunate and unintended consequence of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, in the case of Grill, was the prohibition on literacy tests as a prerequisite to voting.

However, if he lives in Washington and votes against our liquor tyranny as well as against the imposition of an income tax, then I will gladly accept his vote.

Prop 23 feels much more serious to me, as I wouldn't suspend environment-friendly measures in almost any circumstance, especially not when it's tied to a unrealistic and arbitrary target of unemployment rate.

I would admit I may have not done enough research and be mistaken on Prop 26, but it does apply only to future fees instead of revoking the existing ones, and restricting it to 2/3 instead of 1/2 would make enacting those additional fees require more of a bipartisan support and thorough examination.
