What would racism have to do with voting in Congressional elections, where the vast majority of those running are white?

Jimmy Carter is a fool. How does he explain the election of Obama in the first place or the dislike of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid?

I think people disrespect Pelosi far more than they do Obama, and for good reason IMO.

Except, of course, that Carter said nothing of the sort. But hey, when have facts ever stopped the right wing before?

Here's the real actual quote: "I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man."

He was talking about the very angry protestors who hate Obama, not those who hate Obama's policies. He's taking about the people who hold up signs saying things about Obama being a foreign-born Muslim, and even signs saying "Go back to Africa" and such.

He never said anyone who disagrees with Obama is a racist. Far from it. Hell, many liberals disagree with Obama on certain issues, too.

But, of course, facts don't seem to matter to people who think that a reasonable political debate involves seeing who can shout the loudest.
