 Sotomayor's Confirmation Hearings
I didn't manage to watch all of it, but I did watch some, including much of Lindsey Graham's questioning of Sotomayor. I found him incredibly condescending. I was quite offended when he asked her to define various terms, as if he thought she wouldn't know what they meant. Was anyone else taken aback by that?

 Re: Sotomayor's Confirmation Hearings
I find it fascinating that the GOP doesn't care much about racism unless whites are the "victims". Then suddenly it's a huge issue.
I would pay good money to hear Sonia Sotomayor say, "Senator Sessions, I think it’s ironic to be facing these questions from a man whose judicial nomination was rejected by this very committee on the grounds that he’s a huge racist."

 Re: Sotomayor's Confirmation Hearings
I think the questioning has been much ado about nothing since she's getting confirmed anyway, so we've just been watching an infotainment exercise here even though I'd prefer her to not be confirmed.

The stupid thing is that all these white men are pretending that being a white man does not affect their judgment but being a latina woman does. Vanilla is a flavor too, you know.

 Re: Sotomayor's Confirmation Hearings
Eh, confirmation hearings are always like this and Sotomayor has handled herself well, just as Roberts did before her when the questions were coming from the other side.
Republicans have actually been fairly approving of Sotomayor, she's getting confirmed with relative ease in my opinion.

That's what made the GOP strategy of portraying her as a militant racist so stupid. There's no upside to it. She gets confirmed anyway and they alienate a group that they cannot afford to lose any more than they already have. Btw, kudos to Graham for distancing himself from that stuff.

......and, she's through confirmation. That was...(relatively) painless.

 Re: Sotomayor's Confirmation Hearings
These hearings are almost all the same. I didn't catch any of Sotamayor's however.
My favorite hearing was Condi's though when Boxer was questioning her.
