I call this > Obama. How times are changing or maybe George Bush was right. Also as Obama didn't like it as Senator but now agrees as President > Maybe the President has to do and act differently for a reason. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090410/ap_ ... _war_costs By ANDREW TAYLOR, Associated Press Writer Andrew Taylor, Associated Press Writer – 50 mins ago WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama asked Congress on Thursday for $83.4 billion for U.S. military and diplomatic operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, pressing for special troop funding that he opposed two years ago when he was senator and George W. Bush was president. . . . article continues . . . . |

Remember, Obama was going to consult with the military and make decisions regarding Iraq and Afghanistan based on that current information. His phony rhetoric during the campaign was just that. Campaign speak. Now, we just get more continued Bush policy even though most people are tired of Iraq and aren't interested in expanding Afghanistan, but just as Bush "said" Obama is also saying... "Who Cares" |

I admit that I didn't follow Obama prior to and up to the campaign. So is Obama doing that job that we expecting and the way he ran or promised. Especially with all his negatives/hits on the previous president, Bush. **************** FYI, this reminds me of the California gov't mess > Arnold made all of the right promises to get Gray Davis out of office > I am the terminator > I will go in personally and find the waste, cut it out > Of course I said at the time, that was a stupid promise and an impossible job > well so Arnold really did nothing he promises > and California is so screwed big time > and how much is because of Arnold's promises, mistakes and do nothings. |

I'd say he's doing most of the things he promised so far and broken a couple. For me, I'd say he's around 80% what I expected/wanted. There's a site someone posted in which you can track his campaign promises vs what he's actually done. |

He's already spelled out an exit plan on Iraq, passed a stimulus package, cut taxes for 95% of Americans, and started working on health care reform. He's escalating in Afghanistan, but he said he would do that during the campaign. Those are the biggies I can think of. |

For me, the trade issue is a big one (although the impacts of a trade policy are too long-term for news networks to focus on). The turnabout on NAFTA is a shameful one; it may yet trigger a trade war the repercussions of which will prolong an already very painful recession. |

I guess for President Obama's ties to Hawaii. I think it funny that Senator Kennedy owns Portuguese Water Dogs and one is named Splash. |

Wonder if the dog gets a security clearance, his own secert service detail and his own code name? >>> President Obama classified the ETA for the first family's dog as "top secret." When asked by a reporter about the dog's arrival, the president replied, "Oh, man, now, that's top secret." |

If you watch the others they are mostly saying he is doing a good to fair job. Like Beetle said he only broke one promise for me and that was the wiretapping. He always said that he was going to put more troops in Afghanistan and that is where the bulk of that money is going. |

Well it seems like the Pirates weren't scared off by Obama's hard/harsh words and have stepped up attacks - and I haven't heard Obama talk about this since he took the credit and had a nice pr moment over the captain being saved! Obama where are you! US food aid ship escapes Somali pirate attack Elizabeth A. Kennedy, Associated Press Writer – 31 mins ago MOMBASA, Kenya – Somali pirates fired grenades and automatic weapons at an American freighter loaded with food aid but the ship managed to escape the attack and was heading Wednesday to Kenya under U.S. Navy guard, officials said. Despite President Barack Obama's vow to halt their banditry and the deaths of five pirates in recent French and U.S. hostage rescue missions, brigands seized four vessels and more than 75 hostages off the Horn of Africa since Sunday's dramatic rescue of an American freighter captain. |

well looks like Obama took a minute today to pat himself on the back. and to me, I think that very small tax relief that Obama talked about has been killed if any people owe money on credit cards - as the credit card companies have raised interest rates to loan shark levels. Obama says working families tax burden is lessened 34 mins ago WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama seized the opportunity on tax-filing day to assert that his administration is easing the tax burden of working people. |

Grill wrote: The Return of Tricky Dicky??? Analysis: Obama policy on torture has two sides http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090418/ap_ ... s_analysis Obama has ended the torture policies of the Bush administration. The controversy here is the lack of prosecution of those who engaged in the acts and those who ordered them. I disagree strongly with that decision, but there aren't "two sides" to it. No more authorized torture, which is a good thing. A pardon would be even worse, but he hasn't done that yet. That leaves it open for various governmental agencies to perform their own investigations, which they're doing. |
