Post Dijon-gate
The GOP's descent into the Laurentian Abyss of stupidity continues unabated.

Apparently at that burger joint the other day, Obama put dijon mustard on his hamburger. Dijon, as you know, is FRENCH!

Stop the mutha-effin' presses!

Mark Steyn (subbing for Rush Limbaugh): "John Kerry couldn't get away with that stuff but [Obama] makes it seem like just like a regular thing to do."

Laura Ingraham: "I don't even like the way the man orders a hamburger. .What kind of man orders a cheeseburger without ketchup, but Dijon mustard?"

Sean Hannity: ""[A]s you all know, President Obama is a real man of the people. And yesterday he dropped by a popular Virginia restaurant to grab a burger with his pal Joe. Now, the Gateway Pundit blog pointed out that plain old ketchup, well, it didn't quite cut it for the president. Now take a look at him ordering his burger with a very special condiment. ... Dijon mustard? I think the president watched just a little bit too much television as a kid. I hope you enjoyed that fancy burger, Mr. President."

Gateway Pundit: "They're just two ordinary metrosexual guys going out for a burger ... Obama and Biden, two ordinary guys, go out for a sandwich and Obama asks for Dijon mustard at Joe's Hell Burger. I hear it's delish with arugula lettuce. Yum-Yum."

I know they are being so stupid, hell I like A1 sauce on my burger I wonder what they would call me. Also, I bet most of them eat Dijon mustard on something since it is considered for the rich.

I never use ketchup. I always use spicy mustard and usually A1 sauce and sometimes Worcheshire sauce.

So what?

But seriously, I applaud the right for creating these silly arguments. It only backfires on them and marginalizes them even more.

Could it simply be that they were making a joke? I know right-wingers are incapable as such, but it's just a thought.

Is dijon really that odd? it seems like a pretty common condiment in Massachusetts.

Yes, Sean Hannity is know for his sense of humor when it comes to Obama. Were they also joking when they went apeshit about Obama's birth certificate, his Muslim schooling, his handshake with Chavez, his bowing to a Saudi king, his fascist-socialist-communist policies?

I don't know, but those statements have nothing to do with this one. Based on your reaction to it (and maybe that was their intent), I find the statements somewhat humorous.

That's because there's nothing they can say that's so stupid you won't try to defend them.

It would be funnier if it were something someone said to make fun of the right, because they're criticism of Obama is so deranged. But this is them really saying it. It's funny, but not in the way they intend it.

I hardly defended them. I found the statement so stupid that they must have meant it in a tongue-in-cheek fashion.

That's defending them.

Look at their comments on the birth certificate or shaking hands with Chavez. They are perfectly capable of making statements that stupid without it being intended as a joke.
