The idolitry of the Obama's is a mirror image to how hateful and disgusted we are with the Bushes, that CNN Opinion poll yesterday said Bush was looked unfavorably by 75% of us, and 75% of us thought Obama would do better.

Obama at this point is like the iPhone or the Wii. We've already pre-ordered but now the pre-release hype is gearing up. Michelle is like a shiny new application.

Sure, reality will set in and after the first year everyone will have one and it won't be considered special any more.

This morning alone, 4 shows talked about Michelle's physical appearance. And to be completely honest, she's not that attractive which makes all the talk about how beautiful she is even stranger. Barack's not married to Iman or Halle Berry or Gabrielle Union.

It definitely reminds me of whenever camera crews go into the depths of Africa and they marvel over the dark skin of the natives in a patronizing way. "They have such beautiful full lips and wide noses."

What gives?

When she smiles, I think it really softens her more than usual, but when she isn't, it looks like she's pissed off to the max or has issues on her mind.. She just has this look like she wants to tear someones head off... She looks like an angry 1st Lady and she needs to lose that perception.. They need to coach her on these things and give her a better wardrobe than what she wore on Tuesday night.. That black and red dress was tacky..

Probably to be even with all the focus they gave Palin and her appearance, wardrobe, and lifestyle. It's only fair...

Loyal, it was the same with Hillary in 1992. I remember how the press ripped into that blue peacoat she wore and that flat shoulder-length haircut with the curl at the end during inauguration. There were newspaper spreads about her bad outfits and designers were called in to offer 'alternative realities' where they designed haircuts and outfits for her. There were 'before and after' type spreads in the newspapers. It was so loud that I was 12 and yet I remember this. Michelle is in the same boat. Its the Dem women.

The media never really expected Rep first ladies to not look fuddy-duddy. If one doesn't, its a pleasant surprise, but they don't have the same expectations. It shows a bias they have, but its true. I can't think of any Republican First Lady who got this type of treatment (positive like michelle or negative like when Hillary first became first lady), or even a senator. Palin was the first and she was intentionally chosen and dress-up for that very reason (to generate media hype). But the media is always all over the looks of the Dem. senators, first ladies, etc.

That being said, I think Michelle looks pretty good, heh.

Michelle does always seem to look pissed off and thus not attractive in the least. How anyone could think she's beautiful is a mystery for the ages.

Well, if I were constantly being compared to The Bush Administration, I'd be looking very pissed too.
I think she is as attractive as my own baby Sister and I like her, though my Sister always looks like she is scowling when she's looking into the lights. Could be the photo lighting.

As with everything in the media, if you repeat it enough times, it becomes "true"...

I think she's definitely a nice-looking woman. When she smiles, she has a real glow about her.

I think most recent first ladies (well, not Barbara Bush) have been pretty. As much as I have never been able to stand Dubya, I've always thought Laura Bush was very classy.

Because there's more media than there used to be and they run out of things to talk about.

shes okay .. nothing good or bad about her .. which normally implies nothing wrong with the person and they're fine.

I think she radiates self-confidence, intelligence, and seems very down to earth. Looks wise, I think she is pretty, I heard someone talk about the dress she wore when Obama won and how it was from H&M and I just laughed. Hopefully they concentrate on the fact that she is highly educated :).

I mean Jesus, this pic makes her look like she's about to throw down on the interviewer.. This is what I'm talking about.. They need to coach her and get her to relax a little bit more.. Take up Yoga or something..

What? That's a stupid test. You'd fail that test too. Very few people in this world would pass that test.

I also wonder; when i saw colbert telling her how beautiful she was i kinda thought ".....not really".

she does get a lot of praise for her style though, and she does have a certain likeable glow. She has a nice smile but she is built thick like a house...not as bad as huckabees wife, but I would bet money that Michelle weighs more than Barack.

that said, while laura bush has been a fine first lady the real better half of her husband, it will good to once agian have something other than a stepford wife in the white house. This isnt the "2 presidents for 1" thing the clintons ran on, but it is defiently closer to it than we think.

Ya know what? Michelle has a unique look to her but I think it's a good one. She's pretty and the photogs are always catching her in the loveliest "motherly" poses. I remember one very recently of the family in church and she was pictured looking down at her kids sitting the pew with her arm around one and just emoting motherliness in that picture. I think she'll make a wonderful first lady and she gives off nothing but good vibes to me.

Could you please post one of these "motherly" photos so we can all bask in the love?

The fact Loyal needs to get a dose of the horn to be happy with Obama's choice of wife worries and scares me!

here is one I found in Google images. This isn't the one I'm describing earlier however. I think that one was maybe just before or after the election and she was more dressed down and looking down at her children rather than looking at the speaker in the photo below.

this is nothing compared to Jackie Kennedy.

The tv tour she gave of the white house was a huge Tv moment in the early 60's and is one of those classic tv moments.
