Secretary of Treasury. I read a great analogy on another blog. The reason why the Republicans are the elephant is because they always leave a bit shit pile on the ground and the Democrats, the donkeys attached to the cart, have to come along and clean up the mess. |

I might be completely wrong, but I think with the heightened awareness that Obama could be a target, means they would minimize the opportunities for something to happen. I was reading a book by Sarah Vowell called the Assassination Vacation, about assassinated presidents, and what struck me is that all the Presidential assassinations occurred largely due to very lax security, and the fact that Robert Todd Lincoln (Abraham's son) was around almost all of them. I'm guessing Obama's security will be much better, and Robert's dead. |

Was invited to go to Ford's Theater with his parents, but was too tired. Was at his father's bedside when he offically died. James Garfield... Robert was Garfield's Secretary of State. Was invited on a trip with Garfield. Garfield was assassinated just as Robert arrived at the train station to depart. William McKinley... Robert arrived at the Pan American Expo in Buffalo to meet McKinley, who had been there for a couple days. Guess what happened just as Robert arrived to meet him? McKinley was shot. By this point, Robert was pretty sure he was a bad curse. So, as long as Obama can resist inviting him anywhere, I think he's going to be fine. |

I was reading a book by Sarah Vowell I'm continuously perplexed by you Chris. I love Sarah Vowell but I can't see you reading her work. I read books, I just rarely mention it as it can hurt my video game street cred. I've only read the one Vowell book, but it was fantastic... good mix of humor and morbidness. I just bought The Wordy Shipmates a bit ago, but haven't dug in to it yet. And in the interest of full disclosure, by saying "I" bought the books, I really meant that my lovely wife bought them, and then she practically forced me to read the Assissination Vacation. I'll read TWS when she finishes... under force, of course. So, to my video game peeps, my cred should remain in tact in light of these circumstances. |
