Woah that was pretty good, McCain and the GOP can complain/smirk all they want, They just probably wish they had the funds and balls to produce something of this caliber.
If anyone complains it will be the old arguement we always get: "He's already measuring the drapes"

Re: Obama infomercial
It was very well done. Even if it only makes that final pitch to 1% of the vote, it could make a difference.
I do think people needed to see that he is essentially... white...
Heh.
Is that wrong?
Too bad he didn't put it in front of SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL. PATS VS. INDY!!!
HUGE ratings. HUGE.

McCain campaign response to Obama's 30 minute informercial:
"As anyone who has bought anything from an infomercial knows, the sales-job is always better than the product. Buyer beware."
Good response but then again it was so easy to make fun of.

Archie, did you watch it? I know you had hesitations about it, so I would trust your judgement most on if you think this helped Obama or just provided a little more wiggle room for McCain to try and manipulate.

Pretty much. He has an aunt living in the slums of Boston, doesn't even send flowers though she contributed to his campaign. And his paternal grandmother was robbed and beaten back in Kenya. Doesn't check on her.
But his maternal grandmother in Kansas gets a cold, he suspends his campaign and her picture is plastered all over the media.

Oh it's common. And it also makes perfect sense in terms of politics to keep that side of the family as far away from a photo op as possible.
Because of divorced or separated parents, people meet estranged members of their family everyday. Just not Obama I guess.
Thats how you get thigs like Joe McCains 911 call

I agree that it made him look presidential. Count me as one of the ones who was worried that this might too over-the-top. But it was extremely well done. I loved the parts dealing with real families. Very moving.
I found it really moving. I felt ready to stand up and do something, and I'm not an American.
And boy, I think just about everyone is endorsing Barack! Lots of great Governor/Senator/Army General/etc people talking about how great he is. I didn't know he would have such support in the commercial.
Peace, Mike

Hmm, that still hasn't happened to me. Is it that common?
Anyway, I was unable to watch it (hopefully I'll youtube-it soon enough) because of work. But my mom watched it and said that she loved it. I too was concerned that it was going to be too much and too preachy. But apparently the way he talked and discussed families reminded my mom of my grandfather and how he would talk to her when she was young.
They showed it on Univisión! How cool! Hopefully I'll find a copy in Spanish.

The same thing that aired on all the networks aired on Univision. It just had Spanish subtitles.
