 Palin to appear on SNL
Quote: WASHINGTON – Sarah, meet W. And welcome to the intersection of politics and pop culture in the Lower 48. Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is set to appear this weekend on "Saturday Night Live" with host Josh Brolin, the star of director Oliver Stone's new movie about President Bush, "W." It's a potentially provocative pairing given that "W." at times takes brutal aim at a Republican presidency that this year's nominee, John McCain, would like to avoid. The Alaska governor has been the subject of a popular "SNL" parody featuring lookalike actress Tina Fey, a former "SNL" cast member who stars in the NBC sitcom "30 Rock." Whether Palin and Fey will appear together Saturday was not announced. Jill Hazelbaker, a spokeswoman for McCain's campaign, confirmed Friday that Palin will appear but offered no details about what Palin will say or do. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081017/ap_ ... /palin_snl

And yet she still won't talk to reporters and has not yet held a press conference since being nominated.

Re: Palin to appear on SNL
I imagine one of two scenarios. Either the audience will be coached and advised not to boo at the risk of being thrown out of the studio, or the audience will be 'strangely silent' or unmiked.
A third option is that there will be no audience during her appearance.
A fourth option is that NBC buses in Republicans from Ohio for the audience.

Re: Palin to appear on SNL
So, they brought on Sarah Palin to listen to Baldwin berate her and seat-dance to Poehler doing a Sarah Palin rap.
Lame? Yes, v. lame.

Re: Palin to appear on SNL
I just thought it was hilarious that once again, she does nothing!!!!
Amy Poehler was hilarious. Mark Wahlberg was great. Even Alec Baldwin in 30 seconds was more worthwhile than actually have her on the show!

Yeah, that was a waste. Tina Fey's 30 seconds killed any time she was on.

Re: Palin to appear on SNL
Yay! Her presence ended up being incredibly lame, and SNL actually demolished her on their own show (woot!) via Baldwin.
Peace, Mike

That really was pretty sick and tasteless.
Anywho... so only one who is left to appear is Biden!

Just watched the SNL skits ... not that funny but still pretty good. Seemed a little forced.

Re: Palin to appear on SNL
Quote: Earlier this week, Palin told reporters that she'd love to appear on the show with Fey, The Associated Press reported.
"I love her, she's a hoot and she's so talented," Palin said, according to the AP.
"It would be fun to meet her, imitate her and keep on giving her new material." I don't really think she has to worry about that last part...

Re: Palin to appear on SNL
I think Sarah Palin was actually a good sport about the whole thing considering how much the cast of SNL dislikes her and it must've done something right if the show received it's highest ratings ever in 14 years... Lorne Michaels should have her on more often..

Re: Palin to appear on SNL
Quote: Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin's appearance on Saturday Night Live at the weekend saw the long-running NBC comedy show pull in its best ratings for 14 years. Palin's turn on SNL, which opened with comedian Tina Fey doing her impression of the Alaska governor, attracted the NBC show's largest audience since March 1994, when Olympic ice skater Nancy Kerrigan was guest host. SNL was watched by around 17 million viewers at midnight on Saturday, according to the Associated Press. This made SNL the third highest-rated show of the week in the US, behind Dancing with the Stars and CSI. It's been a while since I've watched SNL regularly, but now with the presidential election/debate skits I've been watching it more.
