The price of gas is dropping, economic collapse has a way of doing that. Will it help McCain enough to make any dent in Obama's lead?

I don't think it will matter given that many people have no home to drive back to anymore. And gas is still not that cheap.

As long as the only reason they happen is because our entire financial system is failing it really won't matter.

Gas price won't matter if the economy is fucked.

I think that most (... maybe?) people would realize that the reason that gas has declined so much in price is due to the decline in the price of oil because of the decrease in global demand, ie a good indication of a recession, and that everything recovered from hurricane season. I can't see it affecting either side.

gas prices always go down before the election. I don't think it's gonna give McCain any real help.

Gas prices go down after September for a various of reasons. I don't think that will effect the election that much.

Well, the national avg has fallen about a full dollar now. 3.19 I think was the last number I saw.

But this election is already decided in my opinion, nothing is going to change now.

Usually, in economic turmoil people go REp.. Better financial people.. So low oil, seen as a stabilizer should usually help the Dems.. However, Mc got the upper shoe by coming back to solve the crisis.. Who do you trust?

Better financial people? In what alternate universe?

Tell that to the polls. Most people rightfully saw it as the cheap political stunt that it was. Voters overwhelmingly favor Obama on the economy.

Hmm, the guy with the calm, cool and steady temperate or the erratic and nasty old man? That IS a difficult one.

I tell ya what happened to the falling gas prices. We couldn't just let Libya control it's own internal problem which would have probably been over by now.

I guess I should post pictures now since my local prices have shot up 10-15 cents recently. Maybe gas cost isn't a big factor in your budget but it is for most Americans who have to commute 20 or more miles to work.

I've seen unleaded prices vary between 3.49-3.69 and the top end closing on 4.00 with diesel being over 4.00. The low end price difference being those saying it's ethanol free.

Better public transportation instead of needless social programs? I'd say yes.

I fill up once a week. Gas price was at 3.49 for most of March, and just recently "jumped" to 3.55.

Or less military spending? That would honestly be better.

Meh, I'd rather have better public transport over less military spending.
