What I like best about the Republican spin that this was a "democratic hit job" is that, apparently, the Democrats -- knowing a full year in advance that Palin would be the VP pick -- started an investigation about Palin in a Republican dominated legislature and managed to get a bi-partisan commission to come to this conclusion a few weeks before the election.

These charges are not criminal law violations unless expressed in statute or by the State Constitution as a misdemeanor or felony, in which case they are criminal violations. They are, however, Civil Torts and in California are grounds for Impeachment and possible Liability. In California her ex-brother-in-law could sue her and win.

I'm not talking about the merits of the finding, but does anyone think this will have an effect on McCains campaign viz Palin?

I don't. I simply think nobody will care.

Most people are already against her, so it won't affect them.

But even if 1 or 2 percent of McCain supporters start questioning her (and McCain's ability to appoint good people) that could certainly hurt.

I mean, let's face it, McCain needs all the help he can get if he doesn't want to lose, and any loss of votes is bad.
