Post Republican platform bans ALL embryonic stem cell research?
Public AND private.

We call for a ban on human cloning and a ban on the creation of or experimentation on human embryos for research purposes.

I can't find any other information than what's on the Corner.

It's not that I doubt that this is true, as I'm sure it's what the Republican Christianists have wanted this whole time, but I'd like some confirmation.

That's all I have heard and I hope it isn't true as the anti-science parts of the party really piss me off. This was one of the Democrats strongest issues in the 06 congressional elections and the Republicans just weakened themselves (or at least added fodder for the Dems to capitalize on).

Thankfully the party platform really doesn't mean much anymore and I don't think McCain would support a ban on private funding and if he did I probably would not vote for him.

Sometimes the stupidity of the party really irks me.

A zygote (embryo, blastocyst, etc.) isn't a "human life" unless there was the intent of that clump of cells becoming a human life. Otherwise we're committing mass murder by letting billions of egg cells die without being fertilized -- QUICK, FUCK ME! I wonder how many "life begins at conception" tards undergo in vitro fertilization.

To think a century ago, the GOP was the smarter of the two parties.
