New McCain Ad Bashes Obama for Not Visiting Troops Using Footage of Obama Visiting Troops

You can't make this stuff up!

Speaking of making stuff up, McCain's ad also says that Obama cancelled his troop visit because the "Pentagon wouldn't allow him to bring cameras," which is a complete and utter fabrication.

Wasn't Obama's stated reason for not visiting the troops that he didn't want to have cameras following him in (knowing they would)?

His stated reason, which is the actual reason, is that Pentagon rules prohibit making such a visit as a campaign. Obama respectfully heeded the Pentagon's guideline. Kuwait was different since that was done in a codel (congressional delegation) capacity.

No reason yet given by the Pentagon or Obama campaign has had anything to do with cameras. McCain's ad is outright lying.

Going by precedent, a third of all Americans will believe the "cameras" lie once everything is settled. Somebody understands the power of disinformation.

Indeed. And very sad.

To her credit, here is Andrea Mitchell, who was there with the Obama entourage in Germany, saying rather bluntly that the ad is "literally untrue."

More of McCain's blatant lies about Obama:

http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008 ... sense.html

McCain's new ad accuses Obama of keeping gas prices high, all by himself. That's absurd, and McCain knows it – he has said repeatedly that our current problems were "30 years in the making."

The ad also tells us that gas prices are high because "some in Washington are still saying no to drilling in America." Not true. The federal government's estimate is that if the moratorium on offshore drilling were lifted today, it would be 2030 before we'd see a noticeable effect on supply and prices.

For the same reason, it's simply not true that drilling more now will "rescue our family budgets."

And for the double epic fail, Fact Check uses McCain's own words to expose the lie that high prices are solely Obama's fault (an accusation that is laughably absurd on its face).

McCain, July 7: Our dangerous dependence on foreign oil has been 30 years in the making, and was caused by the failure of politicians in Washington to think long-term about the future of the country.

Here's another quote about the trip:

It does now seem that Barack Obama snubbed the troops for reasons other than a lack of photo-op potential, but the initial reports were less clear. The early explanations from the Obama campaign were vague and contradictory, with David Axelrod blaming the Pentagon (Lynn Sweet now says she misreported and misunderstood Axelrod's statement, though she provides no further context for the quote that might change the meaning), Robert Gibbs saying Obama himself felt the trip would be inappropriate, and Scott Gration saying the Pentagon had discouraged the visit by dubbing it "a campaign event."

So who is this terrible Obama apologist making this crap up?

It's the John McCain campaign, admitting it was wrong.

Well, sort of. Obama didn't "snub the troops." That's another lie. He visited troops in both Afghanistan and Iraq. The McCain campaign was actually kind enough to include footage of Obama playing basketball with the troops in this very same ad.

Yep, they could only back off so much, but at least they kind of admitted they had lied about the camera op thing.

Post Re: McCain's latest epic fail
I commented in another thread earlier about the stupidity of McCain's newest ad, which makes that the scurrilous attack that Obama is a CELEBRITY (horror!) and is therefore "frivolous and irresponsible", just like fellow celebrities Paris Hilton (whose parents are McCain contributors) and Britney Spears (a Bush supporter).

What I did not bother to address, because I was too busy laughing at the celebrity thing, was the other accusation in the ad, namely that Obama "says he'sll raise taxes on electricity." Luckily, Fact Check was on the case. And you'll never guess what they found. If you said "McCain pulled this out of his ass and it's complete bullshit" then you are correct!

Obama isn't proposing any new tax on electricity or "dirty energy" as part of his platform, and he never has.

McCain for the fail. Again.

I didn't even spot the electricity tax thing. McCain just accuses Obama of raising taxes on anything he can think of. What next? B. Hussein Obama wants to raise taxes on haircuts! Oh God no, haircuts! Power to the bald!

This is a huge factor in why my politics are a lot more liberal than my actual views, many of which are conservative. Watching the righties do their thing is excruciating. They make a laughingstock of civil democracy.

Oops. McCain supporter and mother of Paris, Kathy Hilton, who donated the maximum amount allowed to the McCain campaign, has this response to his latest ad"

"I've been asked again and again for my response to the now infamous McCain celebrity ad. I actually have three responses. It is a complete waste of the money John McCain's contributors have donated to his campaign. It is a complete waste of the country's time and attention at the very moment when millions of people are losing their homes and their jobs. And it is a completely frivolous way to choose the next President of the United States."

Oops, he did it again! :funny:

In the realm of epic failures, McCain failed to poll ahead of Obama for a single day, even after throwing a bucket of shit.

A fantastic netroots response to the "Celebrity" ad. Why can't the national Dem party come up with stuff like this (that's a rhetorical question):

Another McCain ad that is a blatant lie.

Now, here's what Obama REALLY said:

"Strong countries and strong Presidents talk to their adversaries. That’s what Kennedy did with Khrushchev. That’s what Reagan did with Gorbachev. That’s what Nixon did with Mao. I mean, think about it: Iran, Cuba, Venezuela — these countries are tiny compared to the Soviet Union. They don’t pose a serious threat to us the way the Soviet Union posed a threat to us. And yet we were willing to talk to the Soviet Union at the time when they were saying, ‘We’re going to wipe you off the planet.’ And ultimately, that direct engagement led to a series of measures that helped prevent nuclear war and over time allowed the kind of opening that brought down the Berlin Wall.”

Republicans boast about Ministry of Truth. Of course, we already know their platform is built upon lies invented for the sake of lying.

The big difference between Regan and Obama is simple but important.

Regan looked like an old wise experienced man and mix that with being a great communicator.

Despite all these so-called epic failures, prepare yourself for McCain's epic win come November, followed by four years of ultra epic fail, followed in 2012 by Hillary taking her rightful place at the helm and saving America!

if McCain wins, Hilary is locked to win.

Especially if McCain is like Bush, I think Hilary would win easily in 2012 easily taken the Appalachians.

Hillary supporters who are rooting for McCain to win and subject us to four more years of failure can go fuck themselves.

Nothing McCain will do when he wins this Fall, would be as bad as what Obama and his advisors would do if they had ever got a chance to run/ruin the country. We'll all just have to fuck ourselves for the four short years it takes until America gets a real leader...

It's apparently not just old women that are Hillary dead-enders. :disgust:
