 Re: McCain Vs. Obama
As much as I want change (real or false) from Obama, I really believe that McCain will win in the general due in no small part by Ms. Clinton's big fat freaking ego dragging out this pointless primary season all the while attacking Obama in multitudes of angles.
If by chance Obama does win I won't be upset about it either. I just want someone completely differently than what we've had to deal with for the past 16 years.

 Re: McCain Vs. Obama
If I was American I'd be voting for Obama, but I think McCain is gonna win, if only because he's white. As shallow as that sounds, that's how low my faith is in the American people.

Reagan was a cunt, but he's still romanticized as the second coming of Jesus Christ.

Romanticized by the people who now claim you need at least 50 to 100 years before you can claim Dubya is the worst president in history. I think Obama will win. The diehard Republicans aren't that enamored with McCain the way they were with Bush, and that's really going to affect turn-out for him. And they're not going to be that motivated to vote against Obama the way they would be with Hillary. They know that there is a very strong possibility that McCain will immediately drop his pandering to the right and work relatively well with a Democratic majority in Congress (who will likely gain seats this year) on things like health care and the energy crisis, putting immigration reform on the back burner.

 Re: McCain Vs. Obama
I think Obama wins by a decent margin, say 3-4% popular vote and a strong lead in the Electoral Colllege. He also sweeps more Democrats into both houses of Congress. I think there's just too large of a groundswell amongst Americans for Obama that McCain cannot overcome.

 Re: McCain Vs. Obama
If John Kerry of all people could still get 48% of the vote and miss winning by one state, at a time when Bush had a stellar approval rating (and support from people like me), I don't see how Obama wouldn't win. I honestly don't think John McCain knows what's about to hit him yet. Let's start with the voter mobilization drive. We're aiming for over a million volunteers on Election Day.

 Re: McCain Vs. Obama
Well a lot depends on the running mates. I think Obama will have a stronger than usual presence in the south and that McCain will have a stronger than usual showing with the Senior Citizens a democratic voting base. If McCain chooses Huckabee and Obama chooses Webb than I would think that Obama would lose because Huckabee would negate Obamas presence in the south and I thin Appalachia pretty much assures a Penn Ohio Kentucky WV win with Huckabee as the VP as well as the senior vote with FL(combined with the republican----McCain type) base of cubans in South FL. I think that Obama will Clearly Win CA OR WA NY IL NJ and . I think MI NH WI MN and OH will be on the brink. I think McCain will clearly win TX CO AZ WV FL OK KY TN and VA. For McCain the key states to hold on to with Obama will be NC SC GA MO and AL and Huckabee would help quite a bit with that. I really do think that McCain will beat Obama if McCain has a decent VP. IMO Obama's best choice is Edwards it would help him in states like MI OH and PA and may guarantee him a win there but I doubt Edwards would try for VP again. Richardson would be his second choice and it may help in places like FL NM and TX.
My Opinion is an Obama win with Edwards or someone like him or a McCain win with Huckabee and weaker VP on the Dem side.
Edit: Also I think Hagel would be a great choice for VP for Obama.

 Re: McCain Vs. Obama
McCain is safe in the South. Alabama is one of his safest states. Georgia could come into play at the margins.
Texas and Colorado are swing states, as is Virginia.

Texas and Colorado are swing states, as is Virginia. I think Louisiana is in play, Kerry and Gore only lost that by 5% and that was before Katrina. I think the African-American vote there could turn that state to Obama. Now the African-American vote is big in Mississippi and Alabama so that could make those states closer than they have in years.

 Re: McCain Vs. Obama
McCain will win in a close race. He has about 45% of the electoral vote in his pocket just doing nothing. Hillary was very successful in smearing Obama as an enemy of the white working class, she did much of McCain's work for him. In fact she did things that McCain could never have done without being labeled a racist by the press.
I also predict McCain will run more to the left than most people now anticipate. He'll make a big show of pro-environmentalism and market-based anti-poverty programs.

McCain has hardly been touched, and the media has hardly looked at him, because they have concentrated on Hillary. Expect his numbers to start dropping quickly now that more attention will be focused on him. The following states are, even at this early stage of the election process, within 5% between Obama and McCain (colors show who is ahead at the moment) AlaskaColoradoFloridaIndiana (tied) MichiganMontana Nebraska Nevada New Mexico North Dakota OhioPennsylvaniaSouth Carolina Texas WisconsinThe following are within 10%: ArizonaCalifornia Delaware IowaMissouri New Hampshire OregonNorth Carolina VirginiaThat's a lot of close states, and if the democrats pull out the great numbers we're expecting (which the polls don't seem to be taking into account), expect Obama to do quite well.

 Re: McCain Vs. Obama
Obama by a landslide. He has a great chance of stealing Texas and if that happens, it's all over for McCain.
I predict Obama to take Texas, South Carolina, New Mexico, Colorado, Iowa, Ohio, Indiana, South Carolina, North Carolina, and possibly Florida. (And those are just the states that Bush won in 2004). The only state I see switching to the GOP is New Hampshire.

I really doubt it. Whatever votes he gains will be taken away by conservatives who are already shaky in their support. They won't for Obama, of course, they'll just stay home. As Merkel pointed out, John Kerry almost beat Bush in a nail biter, and that's with a religiously devoted following that McCain simply doesn't have.
