Just another day in election news. It's the business of rough and tumble; McCain peeps need to strap up too, cause their angel will get his halo blasted off as well.

It's my job here to point out hypocricy. McCain has surrounded himself with right-wing preachers who have said hateful things far worse (in my opinion) than Wright.

The degree can be questioned of course as to which preachers were worse or which candidate was more tied to the preacher, but it doesn't make it non-hypocritical.

People scream about this like it overshadows every good thing Obama has done, even though it contradicts everything he has ever said or worked for, and even though he has denounced the statements in the strongest possible language.

McCain, to his credit, has also disavowed the more radical statements of the right-wing preachers who have supported him and who he has accepted the endorsements and blessings of.

The difference between the two? One is a Democrat and one is a Republican, from what I can see.

I agree with this. My grandmother called around the time this preacher stuff hit cnn, and when the election was brought up she said basically just that. "I dunno about Obama. Did you hear the stuff his pastor said" etc. Even after reminding her that it was all the pastor and Obama denounced it all, I could tell she wasn't sold. So yeah, it certainly WILL have an effect (I mean, it already has.) I just don't buy that it'll be a big enough effect to lose him the nomination or democrats the presidency.
