Pretty much happening there recently.

I guess in the long run it will have no concequences for China. Also I doubt that it will affect the Olympic Games.

Though I am shocked how fast Chinese government can close an entire region from the outside....

Btw: Does somebody know?....The Dalai Lama said he would retire if it goes on like this......but can a half-god retire?

He said he would retire as the leader of tibet if they continued the violent protests. While I am sure he is angry at the Chinese reactions the protests in Tibet have gotten violent as si prone to happen to any body protesting to have there state freed.
He said he would stay the Dalai Lama though and continue to be a spiritual leader.

What sickens me about the whole thing is how it's receiving very little coverage in the US, but I guess that's expected nowadays. We (our govt) no longer cares about China's human rights or the oppression and genocide that China has been doing over the decades to the people of Tibet. The Dalai Lama is no longer en vogue and no one cares about what he has to say and in fact I'm kind of annoyed that he isn't speaking out more ferociously about what has happened. Maybe he should burn himself up to bring attention to the whole ordeal.

We have our govt frothing at the mouth to acknowledge independence to Kosovo yet it ignores Taiwan, Kurdistan, Tibet, Darfur and so on. I can't stand it anymore and I feel so helpless with all this depressing world news knowing that our leaders could give a rip about what the people have to say. I saw a clip where Cheney was told 2/3 of americans disagree with the war in Iraq and he said "So..". This is the mentality that we're dealing with today and the media as well propping up nonsense while ignoring Tibet and failing to investigate vigorously or report honestly the issues of the day.

I wish our or any athletes would take the high road and choose to boycott the Olympics in China to bring attention to this ordeal past and present or make some incident at the games if they medal, just something to bring attention to the control and domination that regime has over it's people.
