If he wants to win he needs to pick someone who can solidify his conservative base, which he can't really do himself. Someone like Mark Sanford but not just him. And then he can run as the safe, reasonable guy, like GHWB, which worked in 88. |

Charlie Crist, GOV of FL, would be a good choice for McCain. Because winning FL would put him in good shape in the general election. McCain has also praised him many times, and they get along very well. Crist has also said he wants a re-vote in FL for the DEMS, so if that happens, he wouldn't bring any backlash with voters in FL with him come the general election. And he seems to be well liked among the African American Community, so that could help counter any run Obama could make in some of the southern states. McCain wouldn't have to spend nearly as much in the state, nor campaign as much I wouldn't think. And could instread focus on OH and PA. |

He reminds me of (I can't remember his dang name or any movies he has done) the guy with the extremely tanned look. He played dracula in a comedy film. Rice would doom McCain to be the candidate of the failed Iraq war. What successes does Rice have, other than being the first black woman in that role? She certainly won't attract many black votes, especially if it is a choice between her on one ticket and Obama on the other. And, like, Crist, there are certainly rumors of her ambiguous sexual orientation in the back that will get dragged out. (In her case, I don't think it's appropriate, as she has never to my knowledge spoken out against gay rights and therefore isn't a hypocrite like some closeted gays -- however, just because it wouldn't be appropriate doesn't mean it won't happen.) I think Rice would be a terrible choice for McCain, so I therefore support it. |
