It's also lovely how the SCOTUS and the Dem majority in both houses have done very little to quell creeping authoritarianism in the country. It really doesn't matter who wins the election and who is appointed, does it?

I understand the frustration with the Dems, but to their credit, they did stop the current bill and allowed the law to revert to the old FISA policy, with court oversight. That wouldn't have happened under a Republican rubber stamp Congress.

Temporarily. Will they actually not just hand immunity over to the Telecoms? I'm not so sure, but at least the whole thing is in limbo at the moment. What's also sick is that the Supreme Court even refused to take on the issue of the lawsuits against the Telecoms. What a joke that was...

Frankly, I'm shocked they've accomplished this much. Limbo is a good thing at this point. If the Republicans were still in charge, there's no question they'd have been granted immunity and god knows what else.
