I Am Voting for Mike Gravel
Take this candidate survey and see how you match up with the candidates on the issues. http://minnesota.publicradio.org/projec ... race_id=13MG-23 HC-21 BO-19 RP-14 JM-6 MH-1 Obviously, the survey is not without its flaws, but I found it interesting and informative. It is probably the best example I have seen why some liberals might be drawn to Ron Paul if certain issues like abortion were not important to that individual. Gravel won due to ethanol subsidies which no candidate wanting to win in Iowa can oppose. Unfortunately, they are a gross waste of tax dollars and actually do more harm to the enviroment than oil. Update-I am not seriously voting for Gravel. His idea of having everyone vote for Direct Democracy is insane, IMHO. Along with him being 77 years old, and that was last Summer, when he was still being invited to debates. I voted for Clinton yesterday. I just thought the survey was a good measure to see how the candidates fit on your personal spectrum. I expected Huckabee would be low, but was suprised how low. I thought McCain would be tied or above Paul on my scale.

Re: I Am Voting for Mike Gravel
I don't understand why someone would vote for a candidate that has no chance whatsoever of getting the nom...in the general election it is a little different, but primaries don't make much sense. I thought you were for Hillary anyway?

Re: I Am Voting for Mike Gravel
The problem is that electing a President isn't just about issues. It's about leadership and vision.
I agree with my uncle Bob about issues too, but he would be a terrible President.

McCain, but I hate these types of surveys. They are forced to simplify many issues.

Re: I Am Voting for Mike Gravel
Barack Obama - 20 Hilary Clinton - 17 Ron Paul - 15 Mike Huckabee - 13 Mike Gravel - 13 John McCain - 10
I have some problems with the quiz (specifically, there is nothing here about trade or other foreign policy), but I think the ranking list does summarize how I feel about the candidates.
I dislike McCain, more than Huckabee. Huckabee is creepy, but I like his views regarding immigration and Iran. McCain may oppose a marriage amendment, but he would still appoint nut-case judges that think otherwise.

Appointing Supreme Court judges.

Re: I Am Voting for Mike Gravel
Huckabee, too, but at least with Huckabee we won't build a border fence, provoke war in Iran, or send more troops to Iraq.
McCain would, on the other hand, reduce the value of a US dollar. His economic policies are weak and flippy-floppy. Plus, if he ever won an election, it would be under the knowledge that people voted for him despite his more "liberal" ideas, so he'd probably switch to the right to meet his constituents' demands, anyways.

Re: I Am Voting for Mike Gravel
John McCain - 15.0 Mike Gravel - 10.0 Barack Obama - 8.0 Mike Huckabee - 8.0 Hillary Clinton - 5.0 Ron Paul - 4.0
I'm a McCain man, that's no surprise. I've always known I agree with him most on an issue basis, though his Bush taxcut flip-flop has soured my opinion of him.
Mike Gravel, he's old enough to remember the Declaration of Independence.
Barack Obama, that's my guy. Character isn't part of the quiz, or he would come up on top.
Mike Huckabee? I had no idea he would score so well.
Hillary Clinton? I had no idea she would score so low.
Evidently, I disagree with Ron Paul. No shit.

Re: I Am Voting for Mike Gravel
Obama 21 Gravel 20 Hillary 17 McCain 7 Huckabee 5 Paul 5 I have a funny feeling if Edwards was on there that he would have been first with me. One survey I did like this a few months ago showed it Edwards and Obama pretty close for me.

I wonder what you answered for McCain and Paul to be so close to each other. They're on opposite ends of my results chart.

Okay, this quiz is officially incorrect. It claimed that I liked Huckabee's stance on immigration that "we should tighten our borders, but immigrants should have opportunities to, eventually, become citizens" Meanwhile...: http://www.mikehuckabee.com/?FuseAction ... Issue_id=4

Re: I Am Voting for Mike Gravel
Hillary Clinton: 23 Barack Obama: 23 Mike Gravel: 20 Ron Paul: 9 Mike Huckabee: 7 John McCain: 4 Saw that one coming. I think Clinton was placed higher in the tie just because I listed my position on mortgages at 'very high.' Aside from that, it was pretty much the same ones. Capital Punishment, Iraq, etc. I was surprised my education answer didn't match Hillary's exactly (believed in increased funding for college, too) and matched Obama's. But then, I agreed with Hillary on Iran and not Obama. So yeah, pretty even I'm surprised McCain was even lower than Huckabee. But then again, unlike a lot of other people, I'm not really fooled by his nice, ethical guy act. I think it was easy to have while he was gauranteed his position in congress. The minute his position isn't secure (aka, running for and holding the presidency), he'll swing further right. Not necessarily religious right, but political spectrum right, if that makes sense.

Re: I Am Voting for Mike Gravel
Huckabee flip-flopped on immigration, from supporting a path to citizenship to supporting mass deportation.
