For each word you get right, we donate 20 grains of rice through the United Nations to help end world hunger.

Good time killer, and improves your vocabulary. I just donated 5,000 grains in about 20 minutes. Not going to save the world, but it helps a little bit. Thanks.

I donated 10,000 grains a couple months ago. It's such an awful downer when the rice logo count returned to zero. I around 40 and worked up to 42 -- there's still a lot of room for improvement.

That is still about 1 1/3 cups of rice which will feed some people.

For the two hours that took, though, I'd rather just buy a shipment of rice for some village. :funny:

What exactly are you doing? It took me about 40-45 minutes to donate over 10,000 grains, but I wasn't too particular about getting a good level. I think I tapped out around 39 and fell down to 34 quite often. Then I spent an hour and was really trying to learn words and got up to 44 and didn't fall below 39 very often. I still was able to get over 10,000 grains.

I like sudoku and word puzzles. So if you want to be more efficient and learn at a faster pace, alternate between a fast session, where you are being experienced to many words. Then a slower one where you are really moving from exposure to a deeper level of memory.

Good idea, I'll give that a try. Vocabulary can do no harm, unless one is trying to explain how a caucus works to an English-challenged voter.

Edit: Is it just me, or are they giving twice as much rice now?

Maybe they upped it at some point from 10-20 grains. It was in December I think.

Cool. In just 10 minutes of downtime, I donated 3400 grains.

I knew my knowledge of the word "ecru" would come in handy. ;)
