Either way, I still think Obama is setting himself up nicely to be at least a strong VP candidate. Yes, the SC week made a Clinton/Obama ticket increasingly unlikely, but if Obama has say 1,500 delegates heading into the convention, Clinton has to consider the possibility. Otherwise, Obama will just need to wait 8 years like McCain did, and he will still only be 55.

But this thing is far from over yet.

What if Hillary goes against McCain, loses. McCain takes office, and for a majority of his term he is stuck dealing with a recession.

Next election comes around ... Obama wins in a Clinton / Bush like battle.

Yeah, that's actually more likely.

I can see how you would feel that way, but I would like Guiliani as AG.

He is well-qualified for the position, rose to the spotlight as a federal prosecutor, was in the Department of Justice under Ronald Reagan. He is about as socially liberal as you can ever hope for with a Republican president, and he's a strong conservative on national security and fiscally. I would be very happy with that choice.

He's socially liberal, I'll give him that. But he's a thug on security and his fiscal conservatism (not that such a thing even exists anymore) is irrelevant. You think Gonzales had no problem defending the Bush torture, wire-tapping, and detention policies? Giuliani would make him look like a girl scout.

That is certainly possible. There is not as much personal animosity as the media is inclined to believe.

We will see depending on Super Tuesday results. No definitive post-Kennedy/SC numbers are out yet, other than Connecticut, in which Obama wiped out Clinton's lead in one of her northeastern firewall states. I eagerly await word from more polls; if Obama can take Massachusetts, his chances on 2/5 are much improved.

I am not sure about that with both big senators and the whole Kennedy clan behind him. Mass residents are big on the kennedys and will about follow them to hell if they told them to. Being from there I know how they are.

She had a 32-point lead in Connecticut, speaking in the same time frame. We shall see.

There's Governor Deval Patrick and the Boston Globe endorsement as well as the Connecticut-premonition factor.

Heh, some news outlets are still asking whether McCain is the frontrunner. No shit! He's not only the frontrunner, he has a lock on the nomination, barring sudden medical setbacks.

Oh, how I would really love to see a Clinton/Obama pair with President and Vice-President. I root for Hillary, but I love them both and would be equally happy with either of them as President. I would love to see these two turn the country around from the terrible mess Bush has created in 8 years. And I don't mean about Iraq - in my opinion, the country itself is not in good shape at all, no offence Americans.

I still have trouble fathoming how he managed to get re-elected... and I certainly don't want another Republican in office. Not now.

Peace,
Mike

Hillary can do no right in some people's eyes :P

Truth is if Obama had won his campaign team would be using the victory in his favor as well. Anyone who says otherwise is fooling his or herself. The whole it's meaningless argument is complete BS. There was only one candidate who ran ads in the state and that was Obama. Why bother if they really believed the state meant nothing?

Well that's a move. I know nothing of Crist other than he'll be delivering FL to the republicans in the general.

One thing is certain, McCain will not be asking Mitt for a VP spot. I'm thinking that Huckabee or some moderate GOP governor in a swing state....like Crist will be asked. McCain-Liberman... might be interesting, if not very Republican.

I don't really know why I was so excited to see a Guiliani free fall. I don't hate him, after all.

I also didn't factor in the fact that he'd be throwing support behind McCain, though it does make complete sense.

McCain/Lieberman would be interesting. (Would Lieberman be the first person to ever run on a Republican and Democratic presidential ticket?) But as a sort of moderate himself, McCain probably doesn't need Lieberman. MSNBC just made the point that he needs more of a social conservative to round out the ticket - i.e., Huckabee.

Yeah.

"Obama actually won more support than Clinton from voters who made up their minds in the last three days (46 percent to 38 percent), in the last week (39-31) and in the last month (47-40)."

And while Hillary did win with those who made up their minds on election day, it was only by four points.

I hope that story gets more play tomorrow.
