Polls for him weren’t any more off than they were for Republicans across the board in 2022.

Re: 2024 election - First presidential debate
Trump picks JD Vance and just like that the old Republican Party is gone. Not a good move if he wanted to win the election, but a good move if he thinks he has it in the bag and he just wants a yes man loyalist who go along with the continued deconstruction of the rule of law

Re: 2024 election - First presidential debate
Don't like the pick, I think Vance has an a hole vibe which could turn people off who already doesn't like Trump, but I guess it could help in rust belt. Youngkin just felt more right as a vice president and would've been very electable in 2028.

Re: 2024 election - First presidential debate
It just continues to go along with what insiders are saying and former cabinet members that Trump isn’t interested in building an administration that electable and responsible, but rather dedicated and loyal

Weak choice as Vance won’t appeal to anyone not already voting trump, even if I like the guy.

Don’t know much about Vance, but it seems like he will be committed to continuing MAGA movement if deep state assassinates Trump, which I think is the main factor for his choice.

Re: 2024 election - First presidential debate
Not a good pick for any reason, the first real mistake that trump has made this time around.
This and Cannon have effectively crushed the momentum from the assassination attempt. The chatter instantly shifts back to policy and is more favorable for dems.

I still think it is weird how Melania Trump never appears in public anymore with Trump

Re: 2024 election - First presidential debate
weird read here, I think Vance VP pick seals the ticket for the win. Mainstream media is already handing the election to Trump, and with young strong midwest MAGA whiteboy from working class background, the “masculine strength” appeal of the Republican ticket seems almost certain (to me) to win in November. times are hard and people crave strongmen, not a bureaucratic octogenarian and his unappealing prosecutor DEI pick VP with zero charisma. fucking fuck

I think it will be good for the male vote but I can see him being the type of guy women find unappealing, especially compounded by Roe vs Wade.

Re: 2024 election - First presidential debate
This might epically backfire as the Dobbs decision has shown to have changed the game in 2022 with surprising Democrat wins in the past two years. Going with a hard anti-abortion super MAGA pick being the guy who replacing super old in bad health Trump. Trump has to hide how old he is over the next few months and he will inevitably look more and more frail in the next few months. Everyone knows Biden is old but when America finds out Trump is equally as old it will flip the election

Probably because Biden has been very hard on corporations and is aiming to end their huge tax break in 2025 and unlike Trump is not just saying this to get votes. Speaking of which, having the Teamsters Union Boss on stage last night shows how different GOP is now vs even 2016. That being said, it’s all bullshit. Trump will literally say anything if it meant a vote. Right now that’s all he cares about is votes and he thinks winning back the blue wall is his best bet right now. Problem is inflation is going down

Re: 2024 election - First presidential debate
Prediction:
Economy is starting to really get healthy m. It was already strong but soon it will translate to the regular citizen. However no one will give credit to the current administration and Trump will win the presidency on “National Unity” and then take credit for a strong economy by merely existing in January.
Dumb people will agree with him and unfortunately that is the majority of people

The republicans could not be more flawed, if dems want to win, they need to make a change; the right change will win big time

Re: 2024 election - First presidential debate
So far it seems like this whole Unity Message is Unity for the Republican Coalition. That seems to be what they are banking on them winning with inroads on young adult males with their empty promise of a pro-worker future for the Republican Party.

Re: 2024 election - First presidential debate
It sounds the Democrats have about 4 days to make Biden switch if it's going to happen
I can't get over how much the secret service failed, this dude had a shit plan with getting on a white roof 150 yards in front of Trump with snipers staring straight at him and it somehow worked. The conspiracy theorists will definitely run wild with this one.
Anyway:

Re: 2024 election - First presidential debate
I hate conspiracy theories. But it is interesting that Trump has not reached out to the family of the person who actually died. Very odd.
But most likely scenario is a Secret Service which is spread too thin with increased threats from Iran after the assassination attempts against former Trump officials and just an epic bungling here with another young white conservative nutjob with a gun who is obviously an anti-Trump conservative as everything about his prior political history is Republican and conservative except his fifteen buck he put towards a progressive platform which happened shortly after January 6th.
