 Re: 2008 General Election Thread
I think given his lead, he should have done some bi-partisan thing with his 30 minutes. Maybe like a mini-debate. He shoulda asked McCain to join him and cornered him.

Is it legal for him to buy ads for other democratic congressman? Or in any way use it to help other members of his party like that, like give some to the DNC. If so that would have been a better use of his excess money, in my opinion.

I read the DNC took a 10 million line of credit to help in close senate and house races so i'm going to assume he isn't allowed otherwise im sure they would have dipped into the Obama funds.

If he gave the money to someone else and then lost the election (hey, it's always possible) what would you say then?

And why are abortions government-financed? If it's a personal decision, shouldn't they be personally held responsible for it? It seems dumb because the guy simply made it up. Obama has taken no stands that even remotely resemble this drivel. The right has created this ridiculous specter out of Obama and he's vomiting it all out in a last ditch effort to the scare the pants off his wingnut readers (which apparently, isn't all that hard to do).

 Re: 2008 General Election Thread
Ron Paul is on the ballot in Montana on the Constitution Party line and could play the role of a spoiler. Although Paul has not campaigned in the state and has said that he won't, he is popular in this libertarian state and could draw votes away from John McCain here. Recent polls have shown Montana to be close, so Paul might tip the state's three electoral votes to Barack Obama. I see this as the only potential third party spoiler this election.

I saw him on Maddow last night, talking about why he didn't run for a third party. I agree with him that the third parties situation is awful. None of them ever have a chance.

http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2008/10/30 ... tRailInnerTaking the stage as one of the pre-program speakers at a Sarah Palin rally here in Rush Limbaugh’s hometown, Sen. Kit Bond, R-Missouri, fired up the crowd by warning them about Barack Obama’s judicial philosophy.
“Just this past week, we saw what Barack Obama said about judges,†Bond said. “He said, ‘I’m tired of these judges who want to follow what the Founding Fathers said and the Constitution. I want judges who have a heart, have an empathy for the teenage mom, the minority, the gay, the disabled. We want them to show empathy. We want them to show compassion.’â€Â
Bond then seized on Obama’s comments to Joe The Plumber, saying the Democrat wants to redistribute wealth.
“He thinks this country should be a governmentâ€â€not a government of laws, but a government of compassion and empathy, not of laws,†Bond said.

Did you know that we'll know the result of the election on Monday night?
If the Washington Redskins win, Obama loses. If the Pittsburgh Steelers win, Obama wins.

 Re: 2008 General Election Thread
Obama has inner demons like every politician. He is trying his best to be moderate, but that idealism from his youth still is strong in him. Obama sometimes sound like a republican democrat. God Loving man who is very traditional and then he sounds like a crazy liberal. It makes a lot of moderates and independents nervous. More statements like that and we may have to see this picture...

He doesn't pal around with terrorists. He hasn't hidden his birth certificate from anyone. He's not a Marxist. Kit Bond and the rest of these smear-mongering wingnuts are liars and scum bags. Do you really think a guy as careful and slick as Obama is going to say anything remotely like "I'm tired of these judges who want to follow what the Founding Fathers said and the Constitution"? Jeebus, dude.

"And it's not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.
That was a very stupid thing to say, considering he needed those people to win the general election...
That and the Wright thing almost destroyed Obama...

 Re: 2008 General Election Thread
Are you gullible enough to be tricked by the Republican smear campaign? That's obviously a lie and if you wanted to have McCain's photo with the newspaper, it wasn't the Chicago Tribune, it was the New Mexico something. So yeah.

 Re: 2008 General Election Thread
In a bit of miscommunication, John McCain thought Joe-the-Plumber was in the audience at a rally in Ohio and called out for him to come on stage. But Joe wasn't there. Apparently the campaign didn't tell him to come. He did catch up with McCain later in the day, but this kind of snafu just gives the impression that the campaign is disorganized. This kind of thing never happened to George Bush during his campaigns.
