As long as she can work well with Obama and the other cabinet members, I wouldn't be opposed to it.

Re: Obama's Cabinet (Talk Turns To Hillary)
People still think she was too negative during the primaries? Really, she wasn't. The hate she receives is very odd.
I'd be fine with her being SecState, though I would still like her to be in the Senate too.... we only have 17 women in the Senate to begin with.

The reason Hilary gets all this hate is because Obama supporters were so infatuated with that man, they would have slandered FDR to make him their nominee if he got in the way.

It has far more to do with Hilary than Obama.

It does not also help the Hilary is a very partisan polarizing figure.
However, still its strange for a nominee to receive as much dislike from her own party as from the Republican party.

She has more than proven herself time and time again. The only negative about Sec of State is that it would remove her from the domestic scene. I was thinking about that recently. I'm not sure I want that.

Well if she got into health care, all she would do is energize Republicans like she did in 1993/1994.

Due to his actions, he has changed that.
Clintons and others knew it was important to not only make people fearful of America, but proud of it as well around the world. Bush was only concerned about creating the fear and due to his other actions, he has severely weakened the US's status.
I read an article about how America is in the position the Roman Empire was in after the Emperor Commodus.
Before that time, it had one of the longest periods of peace and wealth and had dominance over the world. Due to the action and lack of actions by Emperor Commodus and President Bush, other powers grew and their own power fell. Followed by lackluster leaders and leaders trying thier best to fix there problems, the country and Empire was sent adrift for years and years.
Now, America will recover but never to the position it had before as the sole power of the world. Sad America had it for 20 years (if you count weakening of Soviets), 60 years (WW2) and counting and maybe another 20-25 years more (China will become number 1 by 2050 latest), Romans had it for 400 years straight. I wouldn't compare America too much with Rome. There are some similarities but a lot of differences too, the big one is the Roman Empire was a dominant power for 500 years. America has only been dominant for like 60. The Romans also had a different system relying a lot on powerful Generals like Marius, and Julius Caesar, which would later lead to the Roman Empire starting with Augustus. We haven't had any of that happen yet.

How many successful (meaning more than a common senator or represenative) have we had in America? Zero. Pelosi may be the speaker of the house, but she's one of the biggest looney toons in congress.

Hillary is being vetted. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/17/us/po ... ref=sloginAnd I guess Obama's new White House counsel Greg Craig is an old friend of the Clintons. fingers crossed.

We haven't had any of that happen yet. Even though there have been empires as big as the Romans, its really them and the British Empire we really regard as all powerful and compare and look to in the Western World. We look at the Egyptians because they were "cool", we look at the Greeks because they were "smart", we look at the Mongols because "they were scary". America is shaped by it leaders but we do not see many who go from being great Generals into office. The last War Hero "General type" President we had was Eishenhower, however I would imagine a lot of people would love to see such leaders return. I was more comparing to how I think Bush damaged America beyond repair, so much so that it may come back but not back to its glory days especially with China/Russia rising. I think however, you are right that the Presidents leave a major impact on their country but not as much as a lifelong Emperor.

Hillary, Hillary, Hillary!
Though I do agree with Gulli, that I always felt her strength was actually domestic policy and social vision. However, she's a fast learner, incredibly intelligent and hard-working, disciplined, patient, already knows all the big players (and has met half of them), and doesn't believe in the crap that the past 8 years have propogated as diplomatic policy -- and that's an excellent foundation. I think she'd make a fine Sect. of State.
Oh yayz!

A while back before Edward's scandal broke, I thought he would have made a great attorney general especially with his background and track record as an attorney. But, alas...
Nonetheless it's a very qualified pick.

Tom Daschle has been names secretary of Health and Human Services while Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano has been appointed head of Homeland Security. Both still need to be vetted properly, I think.

Re: Obama's Cabinet (Talk Turns To Hillary)
The Hillary pick ... I'm not a huge fan of. As others here have mentioned, I think she would be better served in a more domestic reaching post, either way, I have no reason to believe she can't do a good job, she's just going to have a bit of a learning curve.
