Yep, people who claim to be open-minded and free-thinking have no problem with shoving atheists into the closet and treating us like second class citizens for our beliefs. Ironically, many of these same people would argue to the end of the earth the rights of other religions.

We're still the one group that apparently there is no great shame in discriminating against.

Most people view atheists as elitist bastards...
A lot of the famous and popular ones are.

Like I understand you do not believe in God, but that does not make you better then everyone... That is the way many people see atheists. A bunch of snobbish people who think everyone else are idiots.

In reality about 3/4 or more are generally people who are normal and still respect religion.

However America is light years away and even my own country and even some European countries are still far away from electing an out of the closet public atheist.
