 Re: Election day plans!
Just got back. Waited about an hour and a half. They only had 8 booths which was rather annoying. There were some picketers for Yes and No on Prop Initiative 1. Not really surprising.
They didn't hand out stickers, i'm bummed

 Re: Election day plans!
I got in line to vote at 9:30am this morning, and finished at 10:05am... a 35 minute wait in line, which is by far the longest I've had to wait in line for a presidential election. Usually it's 10-15 minutes at best. The workers also said they've never seen it like that before.
So, the tunrout is going to be huge here.

So apparently Starbucks and Ben and Jerry's found a loophole and they're now giving away free stuff to EVERYONE (not just to those who voted, lol)

 Re: Election day plans!
I just voted. I was in and out under 5 minutes. I love my voting site (paper ballots with scantron). I was the 537th person to vote there today.

 Re: Election day plans!
It sucks I have to go to class tonight. I was shocked that they didn't cancel classes for Election Day. The class is hoping the professor puts a TV on or something. I know he is an Obama supporter so maybe he will cancel class early or something.

They're going to have 3 or 4 large screen TVs. I assume we'll be watching CNN español or Univisión. Maybe they'll have one in English ... but I doubt it. Should be a great time.
Everyone here in PR is equally excited for the election. Oh and thankfully I talked to some people here before going to work earlier today because PR has the day off so people can vote in the elections here (governor, senators, etc.) I guess i didn't remember that in 2006 they gave us the day off. And it's not so much a day off as it is nothing is running. They definitely take their politics seriously here.

 Re: Election day plans!
Had to visit my high school for the first time since graduating there to vote. Creepy feeling. And I'm pissed because I didn't get my sticker. Tonight I plan to sit back, relax, and celebrate a political victory for the first time in 12 years.

That makes me want to cry. So poignant! I think it deserves its own thread.

 Re: Election day plans!
Back home again after working the polls all day; no big problems. Whenever anyone left without voting I followed them outside to ask why; most were in the wrong precinct or admitted they had not registered. I only sent one person back in for a provisional ballot. So that's encouraging!

I think I was the last person to vote at my polling place before they closed. I'm a happy camper.
