It's not really about not knowing when the "Under God" part is added. I agree that is a matter of trivia. But the bigger issue is she didn't know The Pledge of Allegiance itself was only drafted more than 100 years after The Declaration of Independence.

Some history matters not. Big Brother invented airplanes.

Yeah well most people think the star spangled banner(instead of being a poem sung to a drinking theme) was written after the declaration of independence or that the stars and stripes flag is the only us flag that is allowed to be flown and don't know anything about the civil flag.

Juno makes $143m. Juneau is in Alaska. Sarah Palin is from Alaska and so is her daughter. All I have to say is the votes should come pouring in.

So apparently Palin's press person didn't know about her daughter's pregnancy until two days ago, but McCain claimed he knew beforehand? What induction are we headed here if both are true?

Man, one big soap opera.

Very funny too. I can't imagine anything topping this, unless Joe Biden is pregnant.

Nothing would surprise me at this point. About McCain's VP choice, it sounds Palin was at least his third choice. He wanted Liberman and that was shot down. Hutchinson then told him no. Not sure if anybody else was asked.

John McCain's VP's daughter's baby daddy, which is a sentence I never thought I'd have to type.

Johnston, 17, who is entering his senior year at Wasilla HS, plays on the school hockey team and was once teammates on a youth squad with Palin's older brother, Track, 19, who is now in the Army.

Despite suffering a cracked bone in his shin last season, Johnston scored 24 goals in 24 games.

"We don't want to talk about this," said a woman who answered the phone at the Johnston home.

On his MySpace page, Johnston boasts, "I'm a f - - -in' redneck" who likes to snowboard and ride dirt bikes.

"But I live to play hockey. I like to go camping and hang out with the boys, do some fishing, shoot some s- - - and just f - - -in' chillin' I guess."

"Ya f - - - with me I'll kick [your] ass," he added.

He was also arrested for stealing salmon.

I'll wait a couple more days to see how it plays out before agreeing with this. Again, I like most of her policies and the Evangelists are supporting her about her daughter. So she still has that branch of the republican party sured up.

She has it, but I would think it would be with much less enthusiasm amongst the mainstream populace (relatively, of course) of the christian right. They'll still vote for McCain if they vote, but with waning enthusiasm, those votes will be fewer.

I dont see how Palin's 17 year old daughter being pregnant would affect the McCain/Palin ticket, Bush became president and didnt he admit before that he used to be on Drugs before being born again? Also, didnt Obama also use to be a druggie?

So her daughter had a weak vagina, its not her fault.

lol

Interesting the things you learn on a daily basis. I had totally assumed that the Pledge dated to our countries creation, and never knew it had been modified.

I blame my history teacher!

Either way, I still don't see any real issue with the Under God portion, but really wouldn't fight over taking it out, makes no difference to me.

Has anyone looked into Palin's church and the sermons her pastor has given? Remember, according to Republicans, every opinion the pastor says is automatically shared by Palin unless she immediately walked out the door upon hearing something she disagreed with.

Given her church and her world view, I'll bet there are some real doozies waiting to be uncovered.

I usually hate Campbell Brown but yesterday, she became my hero. Biggest ass-whooping in a long time.

McCain has now cancelled his Larry King appearance tonight, saying this exchange between Brown and Bounds was "over the line."

The pledge was written by a socialist, too!

God, I have really started to hate McCain. What a loser. I honestly did not hate him before this election but now....he's pretty much my most hated politician outside of the Bush administration.

I think Kerry put it best. There's Senator McCain, a basically good guy and sometimes maverick. And then there's Candidate McCain, who is basically a douche bag. I miss Senator McCain.

I don't think he was going on King, given his show is the dem response. Blitzer or Cooper perhaps?
