Re: 2012 ELECTION DISCUSSION -- OBAMA WINS RE-ELECTION
Regardless what you think of his religion and campaign, Romney really is a man of great character -- and I hope he can use his managerial forte for other beneficial causes.
He was my choice in 2008 before he resigned -- and it shows. I hope it influences the republicans' path forward.

More signs of progress today: the first disabled woman Senator, the first openly lesbian woman Senator, and the first foreign-born Asian woman Senator all happened tonight.

I get the sense Romney doesn't give a shit where the party or country goes next. He just wanted to be president.

Re: 2012 ELECTION DISCUSSION -- OBAMA WINS RE-ELECTION
Obama killed his speech. Best he has had since he won Iowa in 2008, and came out with the most articulate form of "What up, Bitches? Hillary, you mad?" of all time.
I tracked it at the hype. But, around 8:45, when it was obvious Obama would be extremely competitive in Florida at the every least, it was clear he would win. It was clear Obama would over perform the polls, as Bush did in 2004 and Clinton did in 1996. Considering Obama had the lead, it was obvious he would win.
332-206. Popular vote aside, Obama spanked Romney. Mitt only managed to turn two states.

Re: 2012 ELECTION DISCUSSION -- OBAMA WINS RE-ELECTION
I also just want to add, Charles Krautheimer continues to embarrass himself. He has been harping up and down all night on Fox that the republicans lost because Romney was not conservative enough. Megyn Kelly and Brett Baier were both like " " while he ranted that Romneys late moves to the middle cost him. Almost as funny as Karl Rove attempting to say that Romney would win Ohio and Fox was wrong for calling it so early. When Kelly asked him to explain his absurd reasoning, she was " No. ". Fox is underrated.

Happy for you guys This finally puts to rest all those crazy analyses saying that it would be a close race. It wasn't.

Dr. Lecter wrote: Happy for you guys This finally puts to rest all those crazy analyses saying that it would be a close race. It wasn't. Early, early on most said this was Obama's to lose, thanks to The Candidate The Republicans Didn't Want (Romney), but of course then everyone remembered Bush II. Romney failed to connect to the regular people. If he had, I hate to say it, the personality of Bush Jr., he maybe would've put up a better fight. Of course we all know many people vote for the person they like and relate to more, not the one whose political views agree with their own. And the Republicans didn't want him, as made abundantly clear by outsiders when they bounced around to Cain, to Gingrich, to Trump (HA), to Perry, to Santorum, to basically everyone in the party until they came back to the same guy we all knew would get the nomination: Romney. Big congrats to Obama. Well-deserved victory for many reasons.

Re: 2012 ELECTION DISCUSSION -- OBAMA WINS RE-ELECTION
Election was not close apart from the popular vote...
Anyways with GOP dominated house, I am not holding up much enthusiasm and anyone who did should keep expectations in check.
Pretty much Obama will have to stay as a Moderate for the next 4 years as well.
However great progress on social issues...
GOP need to change or they are done for really. Number one priority form them is to purge the tea party and try to appeal to Minorities.
You may laugh saying impossible but in Canada the Conservatives won around 45% of the Minority vote (and they are 5 parties up here so thats huge...).

My views do not square with either party and they are too extreme to ever become law (or maybe anti-law is a better term). Besides, it seems the Democratic Party is ascendant so I doubt whatever I do matters much anyway.
