My viewpoint is just the second sentence, the first sentence is about what I read elsewhere. if we compare to what happened after George Floyd, the first protests in Minnesota were much smaller scale than what happened nationwide in the weekend, and in ensuing months.

If Pence did become president—someone who many people considered to be a traitor earlier today—that info being released to the public would anger a lot of violent people to trigger further riots. Yes, violent people exist on both the left and right. This weekend, and Inauguration Day, are definitely days the general public would be safer at home.

Not really, I think a lot of (mostly white) Antifa don’t care about black people, but corrupted the BLM cause to cause destruction and chaos. What’s been revealed about some of the Antifa in Kenosha (and elsewhere), where the white Antifa guy yells the n-word at Kyle Rittenhouse, they use any cause at an excuse to stir up violence and vandalism.

Only after inciting even more potential violence by riling them up even MORE by going on about how the election was stolen, saying he loved them, only then did he tell them to go home in peace.

Twitter had to actually suspend his account tonight. Even Facebook of all places took down that disturbing video.

They probably would've been doing Democrats bidding. Now that they're back to finish it tonight and they're laying it on so thick with Chuck Schumer comparing it to Pearl Harbour, it seems an awfully convenient event to allow the Democrats and RINOs to now rally behind Biden and condemn Trump, and do away with objections that were planned today. Also if Pence turned on Trump for real, it's possible they try to use the 25th amendment to remove Trump before the next 2 weeks.

What I was afraid of this summer, and also right after the election, is if there are mass shootings from gun-carrying violent people. The LA riots of 1992 had a lot of deaths when Korean shop owners shot back and forth with the rioters and looters, which I am thankful didn’t happen this summer. It will be extra scary if these mass shooters that took a break in 2020 come back in 2021. I definitely condemn them and have zero empathy with them, regardless of if they share any similar political beliefs.

The only person turning on anyone is Trump turning his back on America and all its people today.

I'll say what I feel will be the case if nothing changes and Trump loses (which I still don't think will happen) I will consider his failure being weak, not stupid. After years of being harassed by them and the media, he let the Democrats walk all over him abusing the people with lockdowns, riots and then stealing two elections and probably ending democracy in america, and largely did nothing about it. Because he believes in states rights he let them handle their own business. The guy who killed Qasam Soleimani to send a message about crossing America was not the same guy as the one who let riots happen all year. The point of Trump was that he was the opposite of weak Republicans like Mitt, and he will have been a letdown in that area if he doesn't have a plan to turn this around and nuke the entire swamp.

From what I read, she was unarmed when law enforcement shot her, and the only gunfire was from law enforcement. There wasn’t much violence today compared to what happened last summer.

No one in their right mind expected a President to cause riots because he is loosing an election. People expected a riot because of the long fight of racial injustice which seemed to be getting better but there was a proof that it was the same underneath all that façade. Has there been any riots against the election officials in the past few years? NO/NEVER. Has there been riots against racial injustice? HAPPENS ONCE IN A WHILE.

You do not get much reaction when it is somewhere in the back of your mind that a riot would happen because of this. Not in this thread but I remember seeing more reactions about the summer riot in the forum. In international news after first few hours read more about Floyd than I have heard about today's debacle.

Also comparing two riots (however similar you think the situation is) is just not cutting as an argument anymore. We are not playing the blame game here nor are we trying to shift the blame to multiple parties and if we do then let's start at the source. What was the need to incite and rile the crowd in front of Capitol?
