I guess it was only a matter of time before it happened, but at least they're doing so by actually remaining respectful and on topic.

I wish Sanders would have hit home more on the fact it's not directly about Clinton herself taking money from big power - we know she has integrity and it would not affect her. That's not the point - it's the many, many other politicians in the same scenario as her. There is going to be corrupt deals and conflict of interests.

I really was feeling the Bern tonight. It was nice not having Tommy Carcetti around ruining the flow.

 Re: Who Will Be President?
I saw the last half hour or so of the debate. The exchange between the two was courteous and the content was something typical of a scripted political speech. Not a fierce debate people here are talking about.

 Re: Who Will Be President?
Two post-Iowa polls showed Sanders gaining on Clinton. Democrats' pollster PPP had Clinton +21, down from Clinton +28 before Iowa. Quinnipiac's results were more dramatic. They had Clinton go from +31 to +2, a statistical tie with Sanders. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2016/president/us/2016_democratic_presidential_nomination-3824.html#polls

 Re: Who Will Be President?
Bernie is great when he's allowed to get fired up about economic injustice. Hilary comes across as an agitated mom who is trying to explain why skateboarding is dangerous. Its not a great look.
However, whenver the topic shifts to anything but economics shes clearly so much more informed and experienced. I think that will win out in the end. But really who knows? The old saying is democrats fall in love, republicans fall in line. So far its been the opposite, but a Bernie/Rubio face off could be coming after all.
Also, ihope, Im sure you could find the whole thing on youtube.

 Re: Who Will Be President?
Bernie has a good sense of humour without looking like as much of a dickhead as Trump. But can anyone really see Bernie as the president? The only one that has the president look is, gulp, Hilary, and that's mainly because her husband was a president before.

That show needs to come back immediately. Even SNLs dodgy writing made it good enough

 Re: Who Will Be President?
Trump's big win tonight was good for him obviously. Even better was Rubio's brutal 5th place finish. The GOP establishment is still a mess and Cruz is now the religious guy (they never win). The Donald is making it to November.
Democrats are now the big mystery. I didn't think Bernie's core would show up but they sure are.

They say though that Trump won't do as well in a 1 on 1 Republican matchup. So, if they keep dropping out he might lose the nomination.

 Re: Who Will Be President?
Cruz will do very well in South Carolina. Its going to be close between him and Trump there but he's likely to win it or barely get beaten. Its still a long battle for the nomination even though it looks like Trump will get it.
Rubio is done. He was the only establishment hope left in the game but after the last week its over for him.
Clinton/Sanders well thats a coin toss. Looks to me that Clinton will never be President. The fact that she's not a shoe-in among women and liberals says alot about her popularity or lack of it. She was supposed to be the natural candidate in 08 and again this year but even her own cant warm to her.

Trump also just came off a dominating win in New Hampshire, so it seems unlikely anything has changed at this point. I'm curious, where are you getting your numbers from? Peace, Mike

 Re: Who Will Be President?
I think we are going to get a contested convention. Bush, Kasich, and maybe even Rubio will stay in for a while to try for that. Kasich should do very well in the Midwest and Cruz will win enough delegates as well. I think noone will get enough delegate and then gets thrown into the convention. I could see some establishment figure (Bush or Kasich most likely) come out of that mess.

Doubt, Trump will have enough delegates within the month.

 Re: Who Will Be President?
I thought Hillary did a very good job last night. She is winning the next big state in SC so that will help her. There is no way that Bernie can win here. It is too moderate, not enough young voters (the ones we do have are mostly Republican), and he has struggled with the African-American vote.

Excel wrote: Doubt, Trump will have enough delegates within the month. I don't know about that. He will probably not get more than 35% of the vote anywhere (there are 30-40% of the party who will not vote for him). Cruz could beat him in SC for instance because of the Christian vote. Kasich will probably rack up delegates in the Midwest, Bush or Rubio could take Florida. And then you have the NE and the Pacific states that are much more moderate. I think we will be down to one establishment candidate by March and at that point it will be more split. I see this going a long time, at least May.

Well, somebody has to be president, and you could make the argument against anyone remaining in the field: Sanders - a socialist could never win a general election Cruz - too conservative, no appeal outside the south Trump - can't seem to break above the 35% ceiling even within his own party Rubio/Bush/Kasich - the establishment can't decide on which one, and none of them has the charisma/personality to stand out on his own This is such a weird campaign season. It's like everybody is holding their nose to pick the least disliked person.

 Re: Who Will Be President?
Clinton / Cruz
Clinton wins by a slight trouncing.
Clinton's the better debater than Sanders and she'll trip him up enough to get the nom. As for Cruz, it wouldn't surprise me if Donald won the nomination, threw up a double middle finger and walks off the stage. He's clearly in this to fuck over the GOP. And vice versa for that matter. He'll continue to make everyone look like fools and leave them with Cruz. At that point he either runs as a independent or drops out completely.

The question about Bernie standing in the way of a potentially "historic" canidate was a bit stupid. Bernie is the first openly socialist canidate to ever win a primary and the first person of Jewish background to do so. Don't worry, though, Bernie will make Gwen and Judy pay for being fat cat 1%'s and he will take their money and give it to those whose income has not risen at the same rate relative to Gwen and Judy's.
