Re: So in 2012 is the US ready for......
he would though imo pick enough Conservatives to pick up close states like NC, Indiana and even Flordia back to the GOP. Gindal imo would be a star candidate and that would help him.
I think no matter what, Obama has Virgina, New Mexico, Colorado, Iowa and Ohio locked up...
If Obama even loses NC, Indiana and Florida he only has to keep Ohio or Virgina and one other state and he would still win.
A very unlikely chance for the GOP in 2012.

I though say...
Iowa and New Mexico are now blue States, from toss up States.
NC, Indiana, Colorado, Virgina and Missouri have gone from Red states to toss up States.
Ohio and Florida are still toss up states still.
Note the way Virgina is heading, it may become a reliable Blue state soon.

McCain was their best shot, Romney would have lost badly. McCain could have dominated the independent vote but he had to pick Sarah Palin and go AWOL during the financial crisis. If McCain picked a better VP, the race would have been 50-49 instead of 52-46 which really means nothing.
No I think Obama is set like Clinton.
Not a chance till 2016 and Imo they would have a great chance. McCain may have been their best shot, but he was a weak candidate. Republicans were pretty much forced to support him. There wasn't a single Republican candidate that was strong this election, while the democrats had two of them. When you have a candidate your party is forced to support, there's a problem.

Sorry folks, but in 2012, your looking at Palin vs Clinton if Obama can't seal the deal in all the promises he's made for his 1st term which he's already stated that nothing will get accomplished in his 1st term.. Over 1/2 of these promises he's made won't even be kept.. Did all of you expect this when you voted him in?? Wasn't that the whole point of electing this guy to begin with or was it more on his Race?? Because of all the promises he's made and how he's transfixed all of you in his MLK type of speeches he arouses us with?? Interesting..

I must've missed the part where Obama actually stated that "nothing will get accomplished in his first term." Probably because it didn't happen. What kind of freaking idiot moron would say that in their presidential acceptance speech? My god, BKB.

in bkb's defense, Obama did make a reference to 'it may not happen ...'
but i think he was just trying to make his point that he'll be honest with them throughout.

They need a male version of sarah palin, ideally with more experience though. Somebody whose is -white -young -attractive -energetic Do what was impossible for mccain and surround him with smart people and youll have a serious challenger. Until then, the gop doesnt. and nobody bring jebs son. MR. Interesting.. the only way hillary possibly gets the nomination is if something happens to Obama so he cannot run and Biden decides not to seek reelection. As for Sarah Palin, she ought to hold off. If Palin chills as a governor for the next 8 -12 years till people get sick of democrats she could be in a strong position to run. shes only 44. she could pass for early 40s in her early 50's if she wants to, though shed have to find an image outside of the hockey mom because all of her children will be grown up except the little one.

I certainly hope that the Republicans don't learn anything and continue down their current path of religious extremism.

If there is no Republican opposition, they'll fight among themselves. "Herding cats" and so on. I don't think in any way that Obama will have the rubber stamp that Bush had with the GOP. And, let's face it, the GOP hasn't been a "fiscally conservative" group ever, despite calling themselves that.

The GOP running in 1994 were though under Newt Gingrich.
Imo Those kinds of Republicans can be very successful in the future.
America is still a Moderate, slightly conservative nation and tax cuts, smaller government and fiscal conservatism still are popular viewpoints.

There was a brief moment in 1995, but only because Bill Clinton was president. I think they're a better opposition party than a governing party, clearly. But mostly what I'm saying is that I hope they DO come back as fiscal conservatives, whether they have ever been or not. I think we need that. That's probably not going to happen though. As Bill Maher said, who would lead that wing of the party?

Looks like we have to wish Obama stays as a moderate. Although the GOP tried to paint him as this radical extremist, he's really not; I think many people will be surprised (and many far left people will be disappointed)

I rather see socialists and elitists on the left be disappointed, then having a great moderate President of the likes of Lincoln, FDR and Eisenhower.
