I haven't been following this too closely, so maybe its been touched upon, but Richardson=Sect. of Energy? Yes? No? I have a sneaking suspicion. Gore won't take it. I think Gore is very happy to be outside of Big Politics and doing his own thing. Gives him the most power and flexibility.

Obama won!!! wrote: Gibbs is a fine choice, but I still dont like the Emanuel one. Hell be out in 4 years if he accpets it. I'm surprised many of you dislike Emanuel, he's responsible for many of the gains Democrats have seen in the house, he's intelligent, smart, and should be great for this role. Color me confused. Is it just because of his support for the Iraq war?

Its because Rove is right when he says hes super partisan. I find it kind of an odd selection, but I trust Obamas choice though.

Re: Obama's Cabinet (Rahm Emanuel's In)
I don't think he's nearly as partisan as many of you are making out. He's easily one of the more Central Democrats ....
I mean, sure, the guy is a blunt pit bull, and he has really helped the Democratic Party gain seats, but he's also crossed party lines on a few significant votes. I think him and Obama could mesh well, and I think he's the perfect choice.

Re: Obama's Cabinet (Rahm Emanuel's In)
Lindsey Graham: "This is a wise choice by President-elect Obama.
"Rahm knows Capitol Hill and has great political skills. He can be a tough partisan but also understands the need to work together. He is well-suited for the position of White House Chief of Staff.
"I worked closely with him during the presidential debate negotiations which were completed in record time. When we hit a rough spot, he always looked for a path forward. I consider Rahm to be a friend and colleague. He's tough but fair. Honest, direct, and candid. These qualities will serve President-elect Obama well.
"Rahm understands the challenges facing our nation and will, consistent with the agenda set by President-elect Obama, work to find common ground where it exists. I look forward to working with him in his new position and will continue to do everything I can to help find a pathway forward on the difficult problems facing our nation."
One of the BIG problems with the George W. Bush White House staff was their failure to be able to give him bad news. I don't know if that was a culture developed from Bush or from them, but Bush was in a bubble of optimism, which is why he was often blind-sided by some of the events that have plagued his administration.
This will not be the case under Rahm. He's not Rove and Obama isn't Bush.

Re: Obama's Cabinet (Rahm Emanuel's In)
we all agree Karl Rove was quite effective in all the wrong ways.
Rahm will be a bull dog, but at least he was not taught by Lee Atwater like Rove was.

Re: Obama's Cabinet (Rahm Emanuel's In)
Emanuel is good for Chief of Staff. The purpose of Chief of Staff is to get the party's people on board in votes. I would say Richardson could be a good choice for Secretary of State and Chuck Hagel for Defense. Not sure for the other big posts off hand.

I am imagining the KKK's heads exploding now. A black President with a Jewish Chief of Staff. Priceless.
