To hedge my bets though, I'm still counting CO, IO, and NM as swings because technically they did not vote Blue in the last election. Also, since you're from Ohio and will be working so hard, I think if/when Ohio is called for Obama you should be entitled to a few extra shots for all the (hopefully) productive work.

 Re: Election day plans!
me and my dad will have a party when Obama wins...
Nothing much, just some genuine happiness and optimism.
I expect Higher viewership in Canada of the American election then of our own election coverage back on Oct, 14th easily!!!!
It cannot be measured as a lot of people watch CNN and the major American networks, but it will be huge

I have him only winning by 284-289 EC votes. But, if he does take Virginia, I will thank you personally and buy you that extra shot. What do you take? Its on me.

 Re: Election day plans!
I'm getting up at 5am. Eating my Cheerios, then heading over to the polling place at 6am and camping out so I can vote first thing when the polls open (at 7am?).
Then I will go to work.
Then I'm leaving at 4pm to go find a bar and watch the election results with my friend David.

 Re: Election day plans!
I'm not set up for absentee.
I've never looked into it.
No reason why, I'm just not.
It's easier to deal with it all in-the-day anyway. My job doesn't require me to be at work at a specific time.

 Re: Election day plans!
I don't understand the long lines and chaos thing. I'm just going early because of my personal schedule that day.
I've voted here, Boston, and Chicago at the most random times. Middle of the day, post-work evening, morning, and never had a line in my life. Not more than one person waiting to go before me. There's a voting station every block (you are sent to one, but people three blocks over are sent to a different one), and within the station there are usually 4-8 booths. In Chicago there were about 10, but they had one of the weirdest most time-consuming ballots I've ever touched and they were well-equipped for the fact it would take people longer to vote (by having more booths).
I assumed all cities were like these three, and that in suburban areas there were less voters to begin with (not as dense areas). My grade-school used to be a voting place and I never remember seeing a line there when my parents went.

 Re: Election day plans!
Guess what, everyone. Historical tradition proves that when the Washington Redskins win their last game before the election, the incumbent party remains in office. When they lose, the other party takes office. Since 1936, this has held up in every single presidential election except 2004. Guess who lost tonight? THE REDSKINS (which I'd normally be sad about).

People need to take a step back and really look at their reality before jumping to using those words... I'm going early because there are *always* lines on Presidential years because things are usually ran like shit by senior citizens who go at a snails pace , and while I expect a strong turn out, I go early in the morning... most people in my area go early or do it in the afternoon (because everyone commutes all over the place) and I want to get it done before parents start dropping off their kids.

People need to take a step back and really look at their reality before jumping to using those words... Yeah, that's what I figured, as I've never encountered it before, but people even here have been saying they expect two hour lines and so forth. That is unfathomable to me, but I'm assuming its because I've always lived in wealthy cities/burbs that have resources to keep more than two polling stations open? Dunno. We get the old people too, but there's still never anyone in line before me, so senior citizens or not I'm usually done in ten minutes. Maybe its intentional on the media's part in order to make sure people either plan accordingly and show up early or vote ahead of time? A 'Get Out the Vote' type thing? roo wrote: Libs wrote: Guess who lost tonight? THE REDSKINS (which I'd normally be sad about). God it's upset about the Redskin's racists name. Re: Election day plans!
It's probably just because lines for early voting have been so ridiculous. I had to wait a good two hours and I got there before the place opened...the lines didnt let up all day.
Of course there WILL be many more places able to accommodate many more people at each tomorrow, so it probably wont be too bad most places. But, yknow, who knows.

 Re: Election day plans!
I'll vote sometime between 1-3pm. Then I have to rush to a film class that's 45 minutes away from the polling place, but I'll only have 30 minutes to get there. The best case scenario is that I'm in and out of there by 2:30 and then I'll make my class on time.
Then I have to go to another class after that about the structure of the human body (Not what you might be thinking of. It's for people who want to go into the field of enbalming/whatever the fuck else people do at funeral homes, and it's something that I do not have any interest in whatsoever but was forced into by my advisor because I had to take a lab. It's a great class.). Then as part of that same class I have to take a lab exam on something I know absolutely nothing about. My goal isn't to fail the exam miserably, but that's what I pretty much expect to happen. Me and medical terms don't go exactly hand-in-hand.
And lastly I wrap up my day with a 45-60 minute commute home (depending on traffic). Then I should finally be able to get some election coverage in. So progressively my day is going to get worse and worse, but hopefully by the time I get home my day will end on a happy note with Obama winning.

What do you mean? Like what major (Liberal Studies), or do you mean one of the classes?

My family friends in Flordia report bigger lines then 2000 and 2004...
Shocking considering the already high turnout already.
