Since when is Texas a swing state? I'm fairly certain McCain will win Texas, baring something unexpected.

I meant PA.

It's mainly a Swing State because it has older, more traditional voters. Not many liberals, and more conservative DEMS.

Ah gotcha. Yea I'd say PA will go to either Clinton or Obama, as it's been a consistent Dem stronghold for the past few elections. OH could very well go Dem too...you mentioned our governor endorsing her, and he's well-liked, so that could help her both in the primary and general.

McCain, I think, could have a chance in PA if it wasn't for the Bush/REP backlash. He would be the perfect choice for Conservative DEMS who wouldn't go for Obama (assuming he was the nominee), since Obama is seen as very liberal, and won not too long ago something as the most liberal senator. Kerry didn't beat Bush by much at all in PA in 2004, and I think it's because he was too liberal for some DEMS. So Clinton would do better in PA than Obama would against McCain I believe. And I really think she would do better in ALL the big 3 Swing States (PA, OH, and FL). Winning all three would guarentee a DEM victory, unless something abnormal happened in several other states or a few bigger ones..

The ironic thing is that despite Obama being more liberal in his voting record, he has done quite better among independents and moderates than Clinton has so far and in the foreseeable future because of his appeal and the way he could connect with people even when they disagree. I simply think that's a perfect recipe and candidate if you hope to push for the more liberal ideology.

This is a bittersweet comment/observation. On the one hand, it shows how blind people are in regards to Obama's voting record and that they are only voting based on his rhetoric. But on the other hand, the fact that he is a liberal makes his popularity not too much of a bad thing if he ends up winning.

Poor Hillary. :(

It's comments like these that make the political discussions here so aggravating.

Please; Hillarys been the frontrunner since forever and it was by far HER nomination to lose. If she loses it, I cant see how ANYONE has pity for her, even a Clinton supporter.

She should drop out. If she cares about the country, she'll drop out.

It's very true. People really have no idea what they're getting in Obama, it's been all about a change of the guard, and bringing things together.

I really think Obama has a hard time against McCain.

It's true.

It's either a Republican, or Obama.

There is no other option.

I think Republicans would be more willing to switch to Obama than to switch to Hilary.

Well then why was this thread created?

If it's obvious she should drop out, why doesn't she?

Pride? I don't think she has any left

If Clinton's ego could provide nourishment, there wouldn't be poverty.

[s]Beauty[/s] Pride is in the eye of the beholder

She may think that she still has a shot at winning, but very few agree

Poor Hillary? The deck has been stacked in her favor all along. She had a 20+ point nationwide lead not too long ago, she has a ton of superdelegates on her side, and the most important factor: her husband is one of the most popular Democratic presidents ever. Barack and her are not very different on the issues, but his personality is a billion times better than hers, just like her husband's is a billion times better than hers.

Hard time against a guy who supports 100 years in Iraq? 70% of the country is against the war. This issue alone, if hammered home by the Democratic nominee, will guarantee victory. People don't want us to stay there for 100 years. That's absolutely nuts. Whoever is the Dem nominee, whether it's Obama or Clinton, will nail him on this and the public will keep it in their mind when they vote.

In national polls, Obama beats McCain. In the general election, Obama gets to side with the American people against the war while McCain has to justify your party's insistence that we stay in Iraq FOREVER and EVER.

It IS about a changing of the guard. It IS about bringing people together. Both of those work against McCain.

I also think Barack would kick the crap out of McCain in a debate. He definitely stomps him in speeches, but Hillary is definitely better than Barack at debates. One of the recent debates, the one in L.A., showed that he can hang with her when it's one on one instead of a free for all with 3 or more candidates involved. McCain would get stomped in debates and speeches by either Hillary or Obama.

The economy is another weakness for McCain. He admitted as much so himself. Obama has a colossal advantage on this issue, simply by being on the left side of a recession. McCain will not win any economically distressed swing state.
