Re: The Prop 8 discussion thread
Exit Polls/polling in general always lowballs peoples' ignorance for gay marriage, so if the polls were close, this doesn't really surprise me.

Re: The Prop 8 discussion thread
MikeQ, i'm watching http://edition.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/re ... /#CAI01mapthat's the map, and it tells you when the last update was in that particular county. i know that a lot of No winning areas still have huge amounts of votes to go compared to Yes on average.

Re: The Prop 8 discussion thread
Just looked through the demographics for the Hate Bill exit polling in Florida, and the only groups that supported it were Whites 18-29 (by a small margin), Jews (by a large margin) and Graduate Degree Holders (by a medium margin).
Umm...pathetic. But yay Jews!

Re: The Prop 8 discussion thread
Why exactly is it looking good? The yes side is winning still, and the margin is increasing.

Ugh Los Angeles.
The county disappointed me.

Can I be racist tomorrow against certain kinds of groups? christian republicans and mormons. Many of the Yes votes come from the Black and the Hispanic communities. Vote by Race Total Yes No White (63%) 47% 53% African-American (10%) 70% 30% Latino (19%) 51% 49% Asian (6%) 47% 53% Other (3%) 50% 50% It may be why LA is so low. I imagine a large number of those are christians and mormons but it is not all republicans.

Re: The Prop 8 discussion thread
Still at 52-48 with about 48% reporting:
Good news: Alameda Country - large country with 65% no only 1/3 of precincts reporting Contra Costa - large county with 55% no only 1/5 of precincts reporting Marin - medium? country with 73% no 2/3rds reporting Monterey- Medium sized going 52% no with 1/3rd reporting Santa Clara- 55% no with only 1/3 reporting...large Napa, San Mateo, Santa Barbara, Yolo all can give some more push
Bad News: Los Angeles - 45% no with about 50 reporting Lots of medium sized counties with a lot of precincts left to report Orange Country - bad bad news...42% no large county with only 1/3rd reporting San Francisco is already 98% reported (maybe the 2% un-reported are big precincts? we can hope)

Re: The Prop 8 discussion thread
So what am I to make of those Black voters in California who voted for Obama and change but simultaneously supported a ban on gay marriage AFTER it was legalized?
70% is unforgivable.

70% is unforgivable. Many people consider homosexuality a choice..... as far as marriage is concerned it si but so is interracial marriage.
