Re: Obama's Cabinet (Talk Turns To Hillary)
Dachsle to me suggests Obama's going to be big on health care that's a huge name for HHS.
Today's pick is Napolitano for Homeland Security

It says, according to one analysis I've seen, that he's less intent to simply run the dept than he is pushing through a big plan, and needs someone who understands Congress. I kind of assumed that a big plan like health care would have to be de-prioritized in order to deal with the financial crisis. But I think actually that health care is part of that. Spiraling health care costs are really hurting struggling families right now. And businesses likewise are saddled with being in the health care business for some mystifying reason. If Obama ties this to the economic crisis, he might make some significant progress. It won't be UHC, which I favor, but it could be a dramatic improvement.

Re: Obama's Cabinet (Talk Turns To Hillary)
They need to reform American health care so if thats Daschle's brief its a good move. I mean the American health system costs the government twice that of the French or British per head of population which makes very little sense.

Its quite shocking that they spend more then Canada even per person and we are one of the few remaining "socialist" health care systems left in the west.

Re: Obama's Cabinet (Talk Turns To Hillary)
Obama really wants to be heal any old wounds out there and really wants an experienced team ready to go.
There is a lot of experience around him and that is a good thing.
Some are saying that Obama promised changed yet he brings in some of the regular insiders. Well replacing incompetence with inexperience is more risky.
I hope he keeps Robert Gates, he is a good man. It is not them time to have some idealistic anti-war liberal running the defense department.

I think you need a moderate military man and the choices are few really.
Its either Gates or Hagel or some third unknown.

Re: Obama's Cabinet (Talk Turns To Hillary)
A major mistake by Obama. Yes Hagel would have been better, not my ideal choice but better. I think Obama will regret this decision a lot within a year.
Obama's foreign policy was the major source of excitement and a sense of change, why would he turn that over to someone, who as Bob Woodward said today, can't be controlled? Does he think she's going to be subservient and just do what he wants?

Clinton's camp is saying it isn't done yet. I think it will happen, but I still have my hopes.

Its either Gates or Hagel or some third unknown. I think Hagel gets this or NSA. Also looks Obama is going to have a dream team cabinet Richardson is got Commerce if he wants it. Could see Hagel in NSA or Defense, Colin Powell is still rumored for Education. Who would be Energy, Transportation, and Treasury.

It seems like the Clintons want her to have this. I think beyond the Iraq war, she and Obama probably don't differ a lot on foreign policy. And there's a certain poignancy to have an Iraq war supporter oversee the withdrawal and post-Iraq world.

I hope Clinton declines it or it isn't offered, actually. We don't need more Clinton drama in the White House. She's a great Senator.

What hope does Obama have in uniting the world, or hell, the US, if he can't even unite his own party.

Re: Obama's Cabinet (Talk Turns To Hillary)
Obama is trying to appease Clinton.
If you think Obama can toss Clinton, you would just cause a party war for no reason.
Clinton is still the perfect age to be a leader and she is not dead politically. She can easily run as President again.
Clinton's are still huge!!!
They dominated the democratic convention until the last day. You say how Bill Clinton made Joe Biden look like nothing.

The Clinton establishment took on the Obamas and lost. Bill Clinton's reputation was in doubt among Democrats. And during the vetting process for Sec of State, Bill jumped through hoops at the behest of the Obama team in order to get Hillary the job. The Clintons certainly have influence still, but this is not their party anymore.

Wait, who all has to die? Obama, Biden, Pelosi... Assuming a sniper gets Obama and Biden and Pelosi die in plane crash or food poisoning at a dinner held by Hillary.
