But you did raise the debt ceiling several times... "Yes, because I was the president."
The threat of default is just to make Biden look bad and no other reason.

I think the media is dropping the ball big time in this one as McCarty is already trying to call his own manufactured default the Biden default. If I were Biden I would put as much pressure on McCarthy as possible because it seems like McCarthy is hell bent on tanking the economy to get a GOP White House. This shameful style of politics is why is stopped following the GOP in the 2010s.

Re: McCarthy’s Default Showdown When you piss off the House Freedom Caucus, you're probably doing something right.
But for McCarthy, he gave up so much to be elected speaker, any one of them can now call for a vote to remove him if they wish. If five of them vote to remove him, and assuming all 213 DEMs joined, then it's over for him. And I could see the DEMs get on board with this because who in the hell can the modern GOP House get behind to elect speaker? Scalise? Jordan? It took them 15 tries to elect McCarthy himself.
