Re: Oklahoma making a mandatory, public online registry of women
It doesn't, just felt it was pertinent to state my position. I'm used to talking to Beeble in this forum, and if you don't explicitly state your opinions, he will assume them for you. I think the big problem here stems from your comment here: Krem wrote: by the way, that's NOT what the law says; the law says that individual abortion forms will be posted on a public website The article says that the physician is required to collect and disclose the information to the government. The government "will then post the collected data on a public website." I still don't believe that they are posting individual forms, just the collected data as a whole.

Well, I actually took the time to read it, so here goes: Section 5, paragraph D: By the way, in the text of the law the actual form is much longer than posted above; it has 37 questions.

Re: Oklahoma making a mandatory, public online registry of women
And once again, this is NOT the only issue with this law. Like I said many times before, the other major issues are the fact that there is no logical reason for the state government to collect this data and that this "survey" is a thinly veiled attempt to intimidate women out of having abortions.

Re: Oklahoma making a mandatory, public online registry of women
Well, if that's the case then I suppose the criticism is warranted. The information won't impact the vast majority of people, but anominimity can't really be assumed just because a name is withheld as the information certainly could be enough to identify someone or at least reduce the matching population to an insignificant amount.
I have no problem with data mining as I always feel the more data and statistics the better, but if the game here is intimidation then it's a problem. I obviously don't really know enough about the law to form a valid opinion to that end.

Why do they want data on race?

All you have to do is look: http://www.statehealthfacts.org/profile ... 111&rgn=38There is absolutely no reason for the state to get involved here.

Isn't that what Craigslist is for? OMG, thank-you I needed that. I have been having a dreadful morning and this made me laugh out loud.

Krem hit the right point... the real damage is not whether the information will be leaked out, its that entering it will play a part in scaring women off from abortions. Its not just that it aides pro lifers... The govt should have no impact or play in a decision as big and personal as abortion

I believe Krem issue here is the collection and posting of data by the state ...Something I agree with him on whole heartedly. IIRC Krem is Pro Life but he also doesn't seem to like the idea of forcing abortions to stop through intimidation. I could be wrong but if so it shows a remarkable amount of integrity to hold that position.
