Not sure why he made it $500K instead of $400K, but the point is still the same I suppose. I think most CEO's would agree to THAT deal. http://dealbreaker.com/2009/01/no-more- ... p#comments

And personal bodyguards? You mean the Secret Service? The desperation and mendacity of these Wall Street scumbags knows no bounds.

The point is that the accusations from Congress are just as stupid. They keep talking about 18 billion dollars worth of bonuses. They don't say how many people received them, how much of that was in stock options (which are now worthless), how much of it was deferred, etc.

That's rich!![/quote] I was referring to the author of that ridiculous piece you posted. Quote: The point is that the accusations from Congress are just as stupid. The point was that somehow Obama/Congress are hypocrites for wanting to limit CEO pay when he enjoys apparently tens of millions of dollars in tax free compensation. To call it an absurd comparison between private jets and Air Force One or security guards and the Secret Service would be a gross understatement.

And, by extension, to me, since I was the one that posted it. Beeblebrox wrote: The point was that somehow Obama/Congress are hypocrites for wanting to limit CEO pay when he enjoys apparently tens of millions of dollars in tax free compensation.
To call it an absurd comparison between private jets and Air Force One or security guards and the Secret Service would be a gross understatement. Is Obama above criticism when it comes to executive compensation?

Krem wrote: Is Obama above criticism when it comes to executive compensation? Oh give me a break. Is he above a warranted and relevant criticism? No. The problem with this absurd comparison is that the Secret Service and Air Force One are not part of the president's personal compensation. They aren't "perks" or luxuries. And if you really want to go down that road, compare the tens of millions of dollars in CEO compensation and the size of that company budget with the president's compensation with the size of the budget he presides over and see if they're still proportional.

No, he shouldn't. Unless he personally wants to, but a person should get paid regardless of how much they have stowed away in the bank. That's the purpose of a salary. Who knows what could happen. All his paper investments could be worthless tomorrow or the banks holding his cash could fold. Then what? He ask for a hand out?
